About this listen

This latest installment in the Inspector Montalbano series finds Montalbano in search of his missing right-hand man.

Before leaving for vacation with Livia, Montalbano witnesses a seagull doing an odd dance on the beach outside his home - and then the bird suddenly drops dead. Stopping in at his office for a quick check before heading off, he notices that Fazio is nowhere to be found and soon learns that he was last seen on the docks, secretly working on a case. Montalbano sets out to find him and discovers that the seagull’s dance of death may provide the key to understanding a macabre world of sadism, extortion, and murder.

another excellent journey through Sicily with the Inspector and his fellow good , evil , funny and flawed people. A few chapters delve into the truly wicked nature of the worst of mankind

ONE OF THE DARKER STORIES

Another great Montalbano story, rich with very real characters and an evocative expression of Sicilia and through its imaginary setting. The reader is superb in ever aspect of his performance, wanting only better Italian pronunciation, when he’s called upon to use words and names in the original language.

Another great one from Camillieri

law-enforcement, Sicily, attempted-murder, murder, murder-investigation, smuggling, situational-humor, verbal-humor

If you've read any of the Montalbano books you know that the men of the station are dependent on each other and respect each other. One of their number, Fazzio, goes missing and it is a hard road to finding out where he is and what he was about. He is found alive but with a head wound and still in danger from those who kidnapped him and murdered his friend. It's a tense novel and filled with suspense despite the humorous stuff. Loved it.
Stephen Sartarelli is the master of Montalbano translations, and Grover Gardner in the voice of Montalbano and the other characters.

I've heard about half of Camilleri's works. They are all interesting and give much local color.

Always interesting. Enjoy the characters.

The series continues being great. Grover Gardner is the perfect narrator. Bring on more in the series.

There is alot of ugliness in this book, unnecessary deprivation. Not a good read.
