About this listen
Orcs. Elves. AK47s. Modern-Day Oklahoma.
Elena Doolin thought she had a normal life. She was a cellist, a music educator, and a citizen of Henryetta, Oklahoma. But when she is abducted by a threat group composed of high-fantasy creatures known only as the Sons, she realizes she plays a critical part in the future of Oklahoma. Now it is up to a crusty group of Vets, misfits, ad outcasts, to stop the threat that has abducted Elena, and is planning a town-by-town campaign to gain control of the Panhandle State. Will this group of Nomads be successful? Or will the Dark Lord reign over the Sooner State?

definitely unique!
Okay, so it took me longer to listen to this book than it should have, but unfortunately, I didn't enjoy the narrators voice at all. It definitely gave off sort of a nerdy vibe, which in many ways is perfect for this sort of book. So I truly believe it's a personal preference, his voice grated on me, and I struggled to listen and didn't want to go back. The big gaps in listening often made it hard to follow the story.
I do think the concept was super unique and appreciates that. It's definitely in a league all of its own! I am impressed by the authors creativity, and I think had I chosen to read the book, I probably would have enjoyed and rated it higher.
I have other books I'd like to grab from Richard's, and I look forward to giving his work another shot.
