About this listen

Sportscaster and former National Football League defensive end Tim Green reveals what it’s really like to play in the NFL in The Dark Side of the Game. In this - the Super Bowl champion of tell-all novels - an eight-year NFL veteran exposes the game he loves, warts and all.

This audiobook is packed with hard-hitting inside information only a former player could know. From the perfect partnership between the mob and the NFL to the shattered lives of former players, no subject is out of bounds. At the same time, you’ll meet the NFL’s role models and true heroes, including the dazzling Deion Sanders and the superb Steve Young. Whether you’re one of the millions of die-hard fans, or only have a passing interest in the game, veteran narrator Richard Poe’s no-nonsense voice and flair for the drama of the game puts you in the huddle. This unflinching look at the most-watched professional sports league on Earth is a must-listen.

Great Insight into the NFL

As a longtime fan of the NFL I enjoyed the insight of the league and life of a veteran player. Well done.

Dated

I didn’t look up front but listening to this in 2022, it’s over 25 years old.

Some things are likely the same but many things are different. Story was good, a bit depressing at times but dated. If I’d have seen that it was from the mid 90s, I’d have passed

Enjoyable

With the advent of hard knocks and so many documentaries that have really given a glimpse into the modern day NFL, it's a fascinating listen to one man's experience spanning the late 80s through the early 90s in an NFL that is radically different in most ways yet unchanged in others. Give it a go.. plus the narration is wonderful.

Interesting view of the NFL from a man who played in the trenches.

Tim Green beat the odds and became a NFL player. His honest and uncensored essays colorfully describe his NFL many experiences.
