About this listen
Former special assistant to President Trump, New York Times bestselling author, and evangelical Christian Cliff Sims shares the lessons he learned on faith, politics, and the Christian witness while working in the halls of power.
American life today is consumed by politics. Even our churches are tearing themselves apart over political candidates, cultural flashpoints, and debates about whether certain pastors are vessels for the Holy Spirit or an unholy political agenda.
So how should Christians approach our lives in this time of strife and division? How should we engage in politics and respond when we find that our beliefs are at odds with the culture? And how do we keep our focus on eternity when the present attractions of the world are there in front of us at every turn?
Cliff Sims, the son of a Baptist minister and man of deep Christian faith, has walked the halls of power, serving as a Special Assistant to President Trump and Deputy Director of National Intelligence. While working at the highest levels of the American government, he experienced firsthand the cutthroat world of power politics, an environment that can test the character of any follower of Jesus, and he wrestled continually with how to live out his faith.
In this book, Cliff shares hard-earned wisdom from his time serving in government, giving Christians lessons on how to live faithfully and with integrity. Recounting stories from the West Wing, Air Force One, and top secret bunkers, Sims offers practical advice and biblical insight on how to let the light of Christ shine in our dark world, regardless of our politics.
The Darkness Will Not Overcome is a must-hear for every Christian who has found themselves exasperated by politics, fearful about the future, or discouraged by the times in which we live.

Story
After standing at Donald Trump’s side on Election Night, Cliff Sims joined him in the West Wing as special assistant to the president and director of White House message strategy. He soon found himself pulled into the president’s inner circle as a confidante, an errand boy, an advisor, a punching bag, and a friend. This is the story of what it was really like in the West Wing as a member of the president’s team. It's a story of power and palace intrigue, backstabbing and bold victories, as well as painful moral compromises, occasionally with yourself.

Story
The War on Warriors uncovers the deep roots of our dysfunction—a society that has forgotten the men who take risks, cut through red tape, and get their hands dirty. The only kind of men prepared to face the dangers that the Left pretends don’t exist. Unlike issues of education or taxes or crime, this problem doesn’t have a zip code solution. We can’t move away from it. We can’t avoid it. We have only one Pentagon. Either we take it back or surrender it altogether.

Critic reviews
"I worked closely with Cliff Sims every day when I served as Director of National Intelligence. In this book, Cliff gives readers a rare look into a world that most people only see in movies about the White House, or in spy novels–and he does it while providing practical faith lessons that apply to all of our lives."—John Ratcliffe, Former Director of National Intelligence
"Politics is a cutthroat but ultimately temporal game, and Cliff Sims has played it at the highest level. The Darkness Has Not Overcome is full of indispensable lessons on how to view politics through an eternal lens while also being good stewards of the political freedoms we enjoy."—J.D. Vance, U.S. Senator, New York Times bestselling author of Hillbilly Elegy
"American Christians are under attack every day by leftwing activists, mainstream media outlets, and liberal politicians who want to take away our most basic freedoms. My friend Cliff Sims has been through the fire and lived to tell about it. The Darkness Has Not Overcome is an inspiring read that you’ll come back to again and again when you’re going through your own challenges."—Donald Trump, Jr.

The ancient Toltecs believed that life, as we perceive it, is a dream. We each live in our own personal dream, and these come together to form the dream of the planet, or the world in which we live. Problems arise when our perception of the dream becomes clouded with negativity, drama, and judgment (of ourselves and others), because it's in these moments of suffering that we have forgotten that we are the architects of our own reality and we have the power to change our dream if we choose.

The book of Enoch was thought to be lost for over 2,000 years until, in 1773, a traveller brought three copies back from Ethiopia. Whether or not this ancient book was actually authored by Enoch, the father of Methuselah and great-grandfather of Noah, is an ongoing debate among historians and theologians. But all recognise the book of Enoch as one of the most important apocalyptic works outside of the Bible.

Real Christians
It takes so little for us, Americans, to let our light shine in this world of darkness. I wonder what would happen in our nation if every Christian added just one additional minute a day, praying for our leaders , the ones we love as well as the ones we hate, and for God to forgive and bless our nation!
