Publisher's summary
Are you ready for a gripping true crime story that will keep you on the edge of your seat? Then look no further than "The Day Eva Dugan Died," by award-winning journalist and author, Rod Kackley.
Eva Dugan is a woman with a past. Once a saloon singer and a prostitute in the wilds of the Yukon and the Klondike, she is now on the run, accused of murder. But did she really do it? That's what Jim McDonald, one of Arizona's last cowboy sheriffs, is determined to find out. With his voters demanding justice, McDonald sets out to capture Eva and prove her guilt.
But as the story unfolds, it becomes clear that nothing is as it seems. Eva's history is one of hardship and struggle, and her current situation is no different. With several husbands gone missing and her children grown, she finds herself seeking companionship with a wealthy chicken rancher. What happens next will change the course of Arizona's history forever.
"The Day Eva Dugan Died" takes you on a journey through the cross-country chase to capture Eva, her courtroom trials, and the statewide campaign to save her life. Finally, it leads you to the day of Eva's scheduled execution. Will she be hanged for her alleged crimes? And what will be the consequences for Arizona's justice system?
This book is not just a true crime story. It's a compelling tale of a woman's fight for survival in a harsh and unforgiving world. It's a story of love, loss, and betrayal. And it's a story that will keep you guessing until the very end.
So if you're looking for a book that will transport you to another time and place and leave you thinking long after you've turned the last page, then "The Day Eva Dugan Died" is the book for you. Get your copy today and discover the shocking truth behind one of Arizona's most infamous cases.

Story
The ancient Toltecs believed that life, as we perceive it, is a dream. We each live in our own personal dream, and these come together to form the dream of the planet, or the world in which we live. Problems arise when our perception of the dream becomes clouded with negativity, drama, and judgment (of ourselves and others), because it's in these moments of suffering that we have forgotten that we are the architects of our own reality and we have the power to change our dream if we choose.

Story
Some people bounce back in response to setbacks; others break. We often think that these responses are hardwired, but fortunately this is not the case. Stoicism offers us an alternative approach. Plumbing the wisdom of one of the most popular and successful schools of thought from ancient Rome, philosopher William B. Irvine teaches us to turn any challenge on its head. The Stoic Challenge, then, is the ultimate guide to improving your quality of life through tactics developed by ancient Stoics, from Marcus Aurelius and Seneca to Epictetus.

In September 2007, Elissa Wall, the star witness against polygamous sect leader Warren Jeffs, gave captivating testimony of how Jeffs forced her to marry her first cousin at age 14. This harrowing account proved to be the most compelling evidence against Jeffs, showing the harsh realities of this closed community and the lengths to which Jeffs went in order to control the sect's women. Now, in this courageous memoir, Wall tells the incredible story of how she emerged from the confines of the Fundamentalist Church of Latter Day Saints and helped bring one of America's most notorious criminals to justice.

Ben Novack, Jr., was born into a hotel empire, Miami's lavish Fontainbleau. But his luxurious, celebrity-studded lifestyle would ironically end in another hotel room - where the police found him bound up in duct tape, beaten to death. Story
Murdered is the true story of the coldblooded killing of Sherri Rae Rasmussen, a 29 year old newlywed. Paul Christy's thrilling performance leaves the listener at the edge of his seat. Christy's voice reflects the journalistic and no-nonsense quality of Alexander's words. The narrative is detailed and thorough, without giving too much away too soon.

Story
When high school sweethearts Karen and Richard Sharpe married, they shared an interest in medicine, a desire for family, and a dream for the future. For Karen, that dream became a nightmare. After years of abuse at the hands of her physician husband, she put an end to their 26-year marriage. Fearing a crushing divorce settlement, Richard ended the marriage first by unloading a .22-caliber rifle into Karen's chest. The murder revealed more about the millionaire doctor - and his double life - than polite Boston society was prepared for.

Story
TRUE CRIME! PTA president Kelli Peters had a normal, happy life in Orange County, California, where she volunteered at her daughter's school, carpooled, and took care of her family. When a school parent angrily accused Kelli of keeping her son waiting during the afterschool pick-up, it appeared to be a simple confrontation with an overprotective mother. Kelli soon learned, however, that she was the target of a twisted plot against her that involved drugs, lies, schemes, and a campaign to ruin her life. The vendetta led to reputations tarnished, careers lost, secret lives uncovered, two ...

In 1991, eleven-year-old Jaycee Lee Dugard was kidnapped on her morning walk to the school bus. But despite her family's tireless efforts, Jaycee's disappearance remained a mystery. Then, in August 2009, a registered sex offender named Phillip Garrido appeared on the University of California, Berkeley, campus alongside two young women whose unusual behavior sparked concern among campus officials and law enforcement. Story
The case began in New Brunswick, New Jersey, in 1922 and lasted for over a decade. The killer has never been found, and the case continues to fascinate true-crime aficianados. A bon vivant Episcopal minister, a not-so-virginal soprano in his choir. The wealthy wife. Her oddball brother. Their furtive maid. The snooping congregants. The bumbling detectives. And in the denouement, a trial, one of the more notable of America’s Jazz Age, covered by the likes of Damon Runyon, Dorothy Dix and James Thurber. All of it hanging on the dramatic testimony of a single, strange witness.

Story
Someone you know or even love is the person who will kill you. Usually, that’s true. But that is not what happened in 2018 to two college students in Iowa. Two young women who had everything to live for, were killed by two men with nothing to lose. Completely random attacks. Neither case had anything else in common except they both shocked the nation and even the world. What’s worse, being murdered by a loved one or a stranger who jumps out of the bushes when you are most vulnerable? Previously published as We’ll Find You and Let’s Do Murder, The Iowa Murders tells the shocking true...

Good Story Telling
I didn't think I would care for this as the animation is AI. The animation was great. I wouldn't have known it was AI if I hadn't been told. An interesting story that left me with much to think about and how far we have come as a species with mercy towards marginalized people. This was a sad story about a woman who had lived through a lot of abuse. She probably had a good self-defense case that was never told. But that was then. I'm sure there was much more to the story.

Great story line, however I had to quit listening due to the computer voice! It was absolutely terrible. You’ve got to do better than this

Stiff "voice", as expected.
The story is sparse and the virtual voice stiff and very unnatural. I would have at least liked more detail about the perpetrator and victim.

Virtual Voice is a dud ...
I officially despise virtual voice ! It's like listening to a story read by the automated number caller at the DMV. Absolutely needs to stop being used!
