About this listen

Who's the nurse stealing my heart?

As a renowned neurosurgeon, I've basked in the glow of wealth and success. But Mia, the sassy nurse from my past, ignites a spark I can't ignore.

Caught between my narcissism and newfound feelings, I manipulate, shattering trust and risking everything we've built.

Fate intervenes, exposing my deceit and leaving Mia shattered. Can I redeem myself and win back her trust?

Desperate to make amends, I face a daunting choice: cling to my selfish desires or embrace the love I never knew I wanted.

Mia is the only woman who truly matters. Can she find it in her heart to forgive me and give our love a second chance?

Too short of story line

I listened to this book and it started off with a great storyline. But as it went on, it seems that the depth of the storyline was missing and way too short . The female character just let her longtime boyfriend run all over her throughout the story. I love the narration throughout the book.

Frustrating

The Deceptive Surgeon by T. Skinner is a quick listen, but the story left me with mixed feelings. Harrison is a tough character to like, and Mia’s willingness to put up with his behavior was frustrating. The narration by Allie Anthony was okay, but the story felt repetitive at times. If you’re into flawed characters and fast-paced romance, it might be worth a listen, but it wasn’t my favorite.

Deceptive Sugeon!

This is a short and quick read/listen. I listened to the audio book. I have mixed reviews about the story. The narration was okay but there appeared to be repetitions in the story. The story itself is fairly short and quick. It is about Harrison and Mia. He is a a very successful neurosurgeon and a she is a successful nurse. I really struggled with liking Harrison. He is self centered and self consumed. He treats her like a door mat and she lets him. He talks her into several life changing decisions and she succumbs to his wishes. He betrays her repeatedly and treats her like garbage. All the while she puts up with it and takes his treatment. She should have walked away; way before she did. I had a hard time getting past the characters.

a bit much

I could not finish this book, not because it wasn't good but because it was too good and angered me. I feel sad for people who end up in these types of relationships.

Doctor please

A doctor and a nurse romance. I was not pleased with the doctor in the beginning, but he becomes a nicer person before the story ends. I did struggle in wanting these characters to develop a romance, they seemed so opposite. Overall, it is a good story. The narrator did a good job. Poorly Written; Told Not Shown

I recently read a book about writing romance that made me ponder at least one thing the author stated. She said that sweet and traditional romances are trending down while younger contemporary readers prefer edgier, darker, and alternate romances. I'll admit that my go-to romantic jam is historical romance of the spicy-sweet variety (nothing explicit, with characters that actually reflect their times, not ours). So when I saw this audiobook offered that promised to be along that darker vein, I was intrigued enough to want to check it out.

Unfortunately, I didn't find it well written—and that has nothing to do with the edgier aspect. In fact, it almost comes across as a writing outline with occasional scenes sprinkled in rather than an actual story. Stories should be shown, not told, but this book takes telling to the extreme. The author showed us very little, even though the book takes place over several years. She just tells us what the characters are thinking, feeling, or doing; she doesn't show us them having the thoughts or emotions or doing actions as insightful scenes, except rarely. And what she's telling us seems to be in extremes. For instance, for people who have been in a relationship for a long time, once they decide to do one thing or another, they immediately have any abhorrence for what went before (him) or a sense of immediate doom (her). For example, when the hero decides they aren't going to be a couple anymore, he completely cuts her out emotionally, even though she's pregnant with his child. And he doesn't just cut her out; he's rude and abrasive. How the characters act in this book doesn't seem based in reality at all. It’s too melodramatic. The responses are extreme, seesawing from one extreme to another head-whipping fast. I don't think this is an inherent fault of a darker romance about manipulation with a narcissistic hero. Rather, I think the author doesn't quite understand the storytelling process and what readers need and expect.

betrayal

I enjoyed the narration of Allie Anthony

The moment meet Harrison I did not like him His character is so well written, you just want to shout at him. Harrison can not trusted, self absorbed and lies. Mia also needs to also to be shouted at. Letting herself be controlled by him, having hurt her she takes him back . After losing Mia, Harrison stops acting selfish and realises the sun does not move around him. Mia becomes stronger and has respect for herself.

Living the lie

The title says it all. The author brought the characters to life, and I felt for Mia. This is a short novella of Mia and her manipulative boyfriend. It had me hanging on til the end to see what happened.
