Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

For some it’s an opportunity. For others it’s a moment to question their faith: In God, in science, in everything. Still others try to keep the world running in the face of absurdity and uncertainty. And then there are the billions looking to the sky and wondering how a thing that was always just there is now... something absolutely impossible.

Of all the fantasy & paranormal books I've read over the years, this is unlike any of them. Never know what's around the next corner and what you might come face to face with.

narration was amazing.
if you are looking for something with a wild storyline, this is it. It was slow at first, but now I feel the need to buy the next because I need to know what happens. The narration was good as always. I received this one free, but will buy the next.

Great narrator, odd story
I got this book for free.
I have to say that it’s an extremely odd story.
It starts off with no world or character building which left me very confused as to who the characters were and why I cared about them.
Then it’s like the author couldn’t decide what to call the main female character. She goes from trainee to human to young female to young human to Gabriel to shadow and back again switching just about every time she’s named. The other humans are also mentioned as human and trainee so it’s hard to sometimes figure out who’s being mentioned.
The 2 main characters have known each other for 2 days max yet the FMC mentions or inner monologue, says things that make it seem like it’s been much, much longer like “this was the first time I’ve seen him like this”, “they’ve grown to know each other and can finish each others sentences” (not quotes but paraphrasing)
It’s mostly fade to black or very minimal descriptions of any sex scenes. Minimal spice level.
Overall not a bad story but I was left wanting for more and more believable time frames.

Disconnected Story
I could not connect with this book or the characters. The story started out interesting and then in my opinion became a little disconnected it was all over the place. I received this book for free upon my request. I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased review here of my own volition.

Average, not great, not horrible
Decent potential for the story, ends up being meh. it isn't horrible but it isn't great. The narrator was good though.
if it seems like it'll interest you and you have credits and time give it a chance.

Interesting first foray into monster smut
I feel like this story has a lot of potential, but maybe needed to be fleshed out a little bit more. We see such a brief look into the academy that is feels like a plot that was cut off, but Gabrielle is referred to as “the trainee” (in addition to “the young woman” and other monikers) so often that there was a point where I actually forgot her name, which seemed unnecessary. The world the author created was a unique one to be sure, and I can’t say I had any sense of it being “lifted” from another author as I’ve had with many fantasy books. The idea of the woodland host was almost hard to wrap my brain around at times, it was so complex, and yet I loved it anyway: a completely bizarre and somewhat terrifying form of refuge, offering a brief respite from the incredibly harsh world. The narrator did a decent job as well. I’m interested to see where the story takes our duo.

The Demonic Reflection
This one did take me a few chapters before I really got into it. When I did it was worth it. I’ll definitely listen to the next one. 4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Skylar Morgan is becoming a favorite of mine. He brings the characters to life.
