About this listen

Howard Marsh returns for yet another round of backwoods magical mayhem! In this pair of tales our white trash spellslinger is once more caught up in the small-town mysteries of Alabama’s lost county. All manner of occult strangeness is coming his way, and as usual he isn’t ready for it.

In ‘The Depth of the Water’ everyone’s favorite redneck wizard is on the trail of a missing young woman who went hunting a God. Did she find what she was looking for? Or did she stumble into some other horror of the deep woods? What eldritch being lurks in the deep water, waiting to barter for Marsh’s very soul?

In ‘September Doves’ Marsh is called upon to try and save the life of a child who is being tormented by a magical entity that no one can identify. Just what is a Flicker Dog? Why has it been tormenting the Durrant family for generations? And just what connection from Howard’s past will come to haunt him?

Marsh is once more on the case and just as unwilling as ever!

(Warning: This book contains much cursing and foul language, as befits a tale told by a drug addled white trash wizard.)

Another Banger of a Tale

Another wild ride with Howard Marsh, and the momentum just grows. I am an audiobook person, so I waited to read more Howard Marsh until this came out, and the audiobook was just as stellar as the first.

The depth of the water

This is a fun and engaging listen. I enjoyed the story and the characters. I was quickly immersed in the story. Howard Marsh is something else and he had me rooting for him. He is not your typical hero but he will get the job done. Howard is a person willing to fight for what he sees as right. Drugs may have taken over his life but that doesn’t stop his abilities and he is more than ready to use them to figure out the mess he finds himself in. I enjoyed the different and strong personalities in this story. Everyone had something to say and stand out making this a well-rounded tale. Narrator John Solo brings this story to life and kept me entertained through the whole journey.

Very Addictive! Fiending for more!

After powering through the first and second audiobooks, this one has left me fiending for more.

Howard Marsh, being someone very relatable who never quite fit into the small town he was born into, is a very enthralling character. His non-typical way of handling issues (or not handling issues, as it were) brings me in, wanting more. I love how descriptive the author is painting a picture of the world that he lives in, it seems very fantastical but very nostalgic at the same time.

The foes he has to deal with, while not being "world class threats" by any means, are still something that have to be handled, and Howard Marsh is the only man in town with the know-how to do it.

Cant wait for the 3rd audiobook!!
