Publisher's summary

Though its red hue was unusual, there was no sign of apocalyptic doom with the appearance of the Krenton-Benton comet. The color was simply attributed to an abundance of dark, carbon-rich material at its core. In its wake the comet left a vast cosmic dust cloud sweeping toward Earth. Scientists predicted nothing more unusual than a little temporary disruption of the planet's communication and broadcast systems.

Spectacular sunsets blaze each evening as Earth passes through the cloud, followed by the rise of a blood red moon, but even the unusual light fades and is soon forgotten. When scientists detect a significant rise in global pollen counts, it is only the beginning, for the comet left more behind then just space dust and light shows. Deep in the Amazon jungle, something has taken root, and will soon make itself relentlessly known. As one small shoot breaks the surface of the jungle floor, horror begins to blossom.

i liked the desperate atmosphere created. however I was disappointed to find out it was book one of a series and I don't know when there will be a sequel to finish the story.

devil flower

this was great, with descriptions that had you feeling as if you were there.
I was unhappy to find out at the end, I am only getting started, and have no idea when it will be finished (if ever).

Not impressed

I wish more people would take a moment to write a review. It would help in trying to get a feel for a story before buying it and taking time to listen.

The description was a bit misleading for this story. I was expecting a science fiction adventure in the line of Day of the Triffids, or something like that. Instead it is just a journey through the amazon, with loads of descrition of what an Amozon journey would be like. However, the story just never took off for me, as it takes so long to deal with the actual premise, and even then there is little discussion of what has happened or why or what is really going on - just how it affects the few main characters in their amazon journe and the tribes people. Perhaps it is just not my cup of tea, and others would find this more interesting, but I thought the descition given wasn't a fair assessment of the story and I was disappointed and a little bored by it.
