About this listen

Growing up in a small town isn't easy, especially when you're the daughter of a local cult leader. Ten years ago, Eden Collins left Clear Springs, Montana, and never once looked back. But when the bodies of murdered young women surface, their corpses violated and marked with tattoos worn by her mother's followers, Eden, now an FBI agent, can't turn a blind eye. To catch the killer, she's going to have to return to the fold.

Sheriff Zach Owens isn't comfortable putting Eden in danger, even if she is an elite agent. And he certainly wasn't expecting to be so attracted to her. As calm and cool as she appears, he knows this can't be a happy homecoming. Zach wants to protect her - from her mother, the cult, and the evil that lurks behind its locked gates. But Eden is his only key to the tight-lipped group, and she may just be closer to the killer than either one of them suspects...

Good read.

It was a good read. Definitely spicy and an okay story line. It started out as a slower read and then I felt as if the ending was rushed. It was definitely interesting and entertaining. I would not reread this one.

Narration was bad

The story wasn’t too terrible, there was a twist at the end that I wasn’t quite expecting. The narration made it painful to get through, so I had to go back and forth between reading on KU and listening when I wasn’t able to read. The narrator was yelling so much throughout her entire narration, and there were times when you couldn’t tell the difference between character dialogue and the story itself. The only character I think she was perfect for was Martha, but otherwise her voice was way too high pitched and loud. I recommend reading this one so you can focus on the story itself and not be distracted by the bad audio.

MURDER MYSTERY OR SOFT PORN?

the murder-mystery part of this story is great, but it's ruined by the constant sexual interactions between the two main characters. if you're looking for soft porn this is the book for you, but for the rest of us who enjoy thrillers and mystery choose something else. it's a waste of money. the only reason I gave this 3 stars is because the narrator did a wonderful job

I liked this one. Great suspense and liked the mythology background. I'm going to check out the next one in the series for sure.

Solid Thriller

What did you love best about The Devil's Daughter?

A really interesting premise for an FBI agent's background. The characters were believable.

Any additional comments?

One of the sex scenes was erotic, as in, Rated X. Totally unnecessary.

Nice

Good suspense, though some better research is in order. Example: only two vics are needed for a serial killer. Worth a read though.

Great premise, Meh results

I loved the whole idea of a murder mystery in which the heroine is a cult leader's daughter and she and the small town wonder sheriff solve the crime. However I found the chemistry between Hero and Heroine forced at best and unlikely. The story had great twists which I did not see coming which is what got me to finnish. However there's no true justice, evil mother Devil gets away unpunished and there's no HEA.

Not what i was expecting (in a bad way)

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Not really. The narrator..was bad. Specially her male voices were nasal and whinny. Also she will yelled every sentence. the characters will sound loud and exasperated all the time.
Second...The main character is the worst FBI agent I have ever read before. She is constantly making stupid mistakes, getting herself in trouble and at the same time we will be reminded that SHE IS AN FBI AGENT and one of the best.......

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I would have change the narrator. Also is a romantic-suspense, lacking in both. There was no connection between the protagonists. Too force. I rolled my eyes several times with the two of them. The suspense was also weak. Not much of a mystery in my opinion. figure it out too soon.

Was The Devil's Daughter worth the listening time?

ehhhhh...........
