About this listen

Adam had a fine life. He had all the food he wanted, a fine garden to live in, and miles and miles of peace and quiet. Until one day, a woman entered his life. And amongst her other garrulous qualities, she says that his beautiful garden doesn't really look like a garden at all. She thinks it looks more like a park.

Read It When I Was 21 - Read It Again At 71

When I was a young man, I came across this short book by Mark Twain. He has always been one of my favorite authors, but at that time, I was not aware of this little book, so I read it, and it has stayed in my heart ever since.

Five decades passed.

Even though I am now an older man, I believe this book has helped me stay young at heart, and has helped me to be a good listener, especially of women, who I have come to believe have carried the wisdom of mankind through the centuries.

When I saw this audio version, I wanted to see if the book would still have the same emotional impact on me.

It did.

It is my wish that every man, perhaps every woman, would read this book, as it describes beautifully the basic relationship between men and women. I cannot imagine a world without women in it. How incredibly boring this world would be.

I want to say that the narration was delivered very professionally by B. J. Harrison and by the woman (Eve) who is, unfortunately, not listed.

I highly recommend this audiobook.

And, yes, as I did 50 years ago, I wept at the end, for now I know, for certain, that it is so.

Laughs from the Garden

Had a great time listening to this amusing contrast of Adam and Eve's thoughts in the garden.

Original Edited for Niagara Falls Edition

BJ Harrison does a fine job. Cilla Harrison, not so much.
The 2 diaries are not interwoven as I'd hoped. And Cilla's reading sounded just that, like reading. No emotion or inflection.
Seemed more like father ~ daughter than husband ~ wife.
