About this listen
Fully updated throughout.
Why do most diets fail? Why does one person eat a certain meal and gain weight, while another eating the same meal loses pounds? Why, despite all the advice about what to eat, are we all still getting fatter?
The answers are much more surprising - and fascinating - than we've been led to believe. The key to health and weight loss lies not in the latest fad diet, nor even in the simple mantra of 'eat less, exercise more', but in the microbes already inside us.
Drawing on the latest science and his own pioneering research, Professor Tim Spector demystifies the common misconceptions about fat, calories, vitamins and nutrients. Only by understanding what makes our own personal microbes tick can we overcome the confusion of modern nutrition and achieve a healthy gut and a healthy body.

Really informative and engaging read
Tim Spector reviews much of modern and recent dietary advice from the perspective of the relationship between our gut microbes and the food we eat. The book confirmed and provides a scientific basis for a lot of things that I had half suspected regarding dietary advice and leads us away from the current reductionist view point we often see in our news (this food is good, this one is bad - at least for today) and guides us to a more holistic view of our diets and how seemingly minor issues can have potentially profound effects on our lives. I have to trust the author's interpretation of the science although I had some concerns when he touches on my world with some comments about global aquaculture which were quite simplistic and largely outdated and wrong, but I trust his knowledge in his field of nutrition. I think if you want some authoritative information and you have an open mind about your diet I strongly recommend to read this book, it could change your life.

Food for thought.
Another brilliant book by Prof. Tim Spector. If you enjoyed Your Genes Unzipped you will enjoy this even more. A whole new look at our lifestyle and what we are doing to ourselves and future generations.

Very miss leading
Unfortunately, I struggled through this book. The "facts" are skewed towards unhealthy food groups. The narrator was very monotuned too.
