About this listen

Opal desperately wants to fall in love and have a whirlwind romance, preferably with a human. So when he's rescued by a dashing knight, he thinks his day has finally come. There's just one problem: Tristan hates dragons. Opal isn't going to let something silly like that get in the way of his true love, though. Surely with a bit of wooing, some aphrodisiac dragon fluids, and an epic journey together, Tristan will see the error of his ways, and they can have their happily ever after.

Lost in grief, Tristan's only goal in life is to eradicate the monsters that killed his brother. He doesn't really want to babysit delicate Opal, who wears skirts and makeup and dreams of romance. Opal is strange, his stories don't make sense, and he's weirdly shy and lustful at the same time...yet he's sweet, and his kisses are addictive, and he makes Tristan's heart flutter.

Opal is sure theirs is a romantic story for the ages—but his secret might drive them apart for good. The Dragon and His Knight is a stand-alone set in the Monster's Pet universe. It is not necessary to listen to The Monster's Pet trilogy before diving in to Opal's story!

Another Amazing Story

For stories with so much smut and action, these monsters' pets books tug so well on the heartstrings. Maybe because the climaxes (of the plotline variety) are usually so high stakes I get so worked up. Every single time.

Tristan and Opal were really brought to life. Clark had the laughter down, the tears, the drunkenness, the nervousness. It was such a delight to hear. I mean I knew what was gonna happen, but it's still great to hear it acted out to a degree.

And there is more??? Yes! I'll prolly read anything by these authors haha.

Also. Nearly a year after my first audiobook. This may be the first black MC. I kept thinking, hmmm... Maybe he is like tan dark...and he must have really short hair... But then his brother had locs. Then I had a Captain America moment. Makes me wonder...

Very Entertaining

So I am kinda hooked on the Monster’s Pet series. Adara Wolf and R. Phoenix make a great team. Opal is the gorgeous femme dragon starring in the role of Most Romantic, Most Unrealistic, and Most in Denial. Tristan stars as Opal’s Dreamy White Knight, while in the real world he’s narrowed his life down to hatred of dragons, revenge on dragons, and drinking too much to dull his grief over his brother’s death. I enjoyed the tale, the tidbits of humor, the sexy moments, and Opal’s attempt to talk to his family members about why things weren’t going according to the romantic story he held tightly in his mind and heart.
The book ends with a tad of a cliffhanger and I hope book 5 comes out before I get too distracted by all the good books in audio available.

Fun and Entertaining Listen

I loved it, such a fun story where romantic dragon looking for a knight in shining armor to sweep him off his feet. This authors team is so good at storytelling and creating magical worlds with unique but flawed characters fighting for their HEA. The story had a bit of adventure, humor, magic, and romance with some very steamy scenes. The conflict of a knight on a quest to kill all the dragons traveling with a dragon by his side was so entertaining that I was unable to put it down, needing to know what happens when things get revealed. Narrator did a good job with story and the voices and made this interesting book into a very enjoyable listening experience.

kinda awful character design

The main characters fairytale ideals let the other main character walk all over him, coming back again and again. It honestly made me really uncomfortable when tristan would do something cruel or mean and opal would just smile it away. I hoped maybe it would get better throughout the book and nothing changed except tristan's actions got worse and worse and opal just kept forgiving him over and over.

Honestly would not recommend.
the first 3 books in the series are good and i'm not sure what went wrong with this one. And i think it's important to note that and idealistic protagonist isn't necessarily a bad trait to have when it's just a TRAIT not the entire personality(which is where Opal falls way short)

I did finish the book in hopes that things would improve but unfortunately they did not.

Spoilers:

Opal falls head over heels either the first nice person after leavening a shop, and even when tristan repeats that's he's not in to men, opal persists and it's delusional in a concerning way.

Tristan's problem with alcohol also wasn't addressed even when Opal makes it quite clear a few time his disapproval of tristan's drinking

Also the way the opal doesn't what to be stronger than tristan, doesn't want to be the one to "save the day" gives the same message the older disney fairy tales did where there has to be a weaker one. And im not saying that that's a bad trope but in this case Opal is stronger and seems to cradling tristan's masculinity because opal was afraid that tristan would be attracted to him otherwise, and after a fight tristan basically admits that this is the case
