About this listen

To love him is to face her deepest fear...

In search of a legendary mare, Lord Winter enters the crucible of the red sands, forging unbreakable bonds of loyalty and trust with his young companion in the desert. But hidden beneath the ragged costume of a Bedouin boy is a remarkable young woman: Zenia Stanhope, daughter of the extraordinary Queen of the Desert.

Zenia wants nothing of the danger that Lord Winter lives for. She wants only to reach England, far from the blood and sand of the desert. But in one night of terror, condemned to death, their lives are irrevocably bound. Zenia escapes to an English world of elegance and comfort, leaving behind the lonely, fearless man who has changed her life and conquered her heart... until he returns to invade her sanctuary.

Now she must choose between safety and love, but can she find the courage to be the person she was truly born to be?

I've listened to three books so far and this author and narrator are a marrage made in haven.

The narrator hands down it the best

This is an unforgettable book with unforgettable narration. What was painful for me was the struggle of the characters to achieve peace. Their struggle goes right to the bitter end. Laura Kinsale will be an automatic download for me but when I want a nice, sweet romance, I won't look here. As far as narration goes, Nicholas Boulton is in the top three narrators for romance at Audible if not the top. I hope you won't hesitate listening to this book, especially if you are looking for depth of characters and strength and talent of narration.

Beautiful and painful!

A little annoying. the descriptions about the Middle East were racist and the lead female character was overly resistant.

just ok

My heart hurts every time I finish a Laura Kinsale novel because there is a finite number of them. How I wish I could read a new Kinsale book every week. Alas, I simply cherish the ones that have been published and listen to them or read them over and over. They never grow stale. They always take me to far away places. They always stir up my emotions. They always leave me wanting more.

Oh to have a thousand more Laura Kinsale books

Read everything this woman writes. She is a master. I had long since gotten over my historical phase when I discovered this author, and I still listen to everything she has on Audible gratefully. She is amazing, this story is amazing and very well read. I highly reccomend it.

Where does The Dream Hunter rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This story, like all the other Laura Kinsale books, is at the top of my list. Mainly because both the story and the narration are so so well done. Laura Kinsale and Nicholas Boulton are definitely on the top of my favorites list.

Have you listened to any of Nicholas Boulton’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

There aren't many narrators that I actually consider my favorites as I'm rather picky. But there are a rare few I actually consider top notch. Nicolas Boulton is one of them. The man is an artist. Truly! I don't think I've heard a book yet where he could not get a voice or an accent just right. His performances are always mesmerizing. Ms. Kinsale and her publishers made an incredibly wise choice in selecting him as the narrator for her books.

Wow! Incredible adventure! Hot narration!

I loved the first part of this book. A glimpse into a different time and culture + strong, brave, but flawed main characters make for a great story. It slowed a little in the 2nd half & I kept hoping for a return to the previous settings, but it was overall an intriguing and enjoyable book. Narration was excellent.

Excitement & romance!

Oh my. There has never been another author who can make me cover my mouth and gasp as many times in one story as Laura Kinsale. Whether in shock, sadness, or teary-eyed happiness, it's always the mark of a good moment in the plot. This is no exception.
The adventurous setting at the beginning, the moody and oh,so masculine hero, the heroine with a twist. It is at the top of my list as a favorite.
And the smooth, silky, deep tones of Nicholas Boulton wraps it up into the most pleasurable package. They are my dynamic duo.

Never disappointed with this collaboration.

I love Laura Kinsale and I wanted to love this book however I had to fast forward through the last third of the book because the heroine was too much. It was genuinely difficult to get through otherwise. Ending kind of made up for it, I just feel like her melodrama was dragged out more than necessary.

Everything but the heroine
