Story
As high achievers, we’ve been conditioned to believe that the path to success is paved with relentless work. That if we want to overachieve, we have to overexert, overthink, and overdo. That if we aren’t perpetually exhausted, we’re not doing enough. But lately, working hard is more exhausting than ever. And the more depleted we get, the more effort it takes to make progress. Stuck in an endless loop of “Zoom, eat, sleep, repeat”, we’re often working twice as hard to achieve half as much.

Do you ride the escalator or do you take the stairs? No matter how you define success, it always requires one thing: self-discipline. But as popular speaker and strategist Rory Vaden explains, we live in an "escalator world", one that's filled with shortcuts, quick fixes, and distractions that make it all too easy to slide into procrastination, compromise, and mediocrity. What seems like an easier path is really much harder in the end - and, most important, it won't take you where you want to go.

Story
It's comforting to imagine that superstars in their fields were just born better equipped than the rest of us. When a co-worker loses 20 pounds, or a friend runs a marathon while completing a huge project at work, we assume they have more grit, more willpower, more innate talent, and above all, more motivation to see their goals through. But that's not at actually true, as popular Inc.com columnist Jeff Haden proves. "Motivation" as we know it is a myth. Motivation isn't the special sauce that we require at the beginning of any major change.

A Definite MUST Purchase!!
Any additional comments?
The Efficiency Playbook is just that, efficient. I have been following the author's career for years now and I am always nothing but impressed with all he is able to accomplish. He is truly a talented and gifted individual and I jumped at the chance to read this book he just published! This is an area in my life where I need all the help I can get and I'm smart enough to know to turn to the experts when I am a novice in an area. This book is well written, full of very useful and profound methods and advice and truly is a guide to how you can become more efficient. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone interested in developing their skill set of efficiency. The author's podcast is also quite enjoyable and helpful. I would recommend both! Michael Andrew is a gifted writer and even more gifted businessman. Read this book and you will be glad you did.

Increase your efficiency with lessons in this book
Purchased the book through Audible, you will want to see visual aids on his blog for some of the chapters. You will also get BONUS information and side notes in the audiobook as the author expands on some of chapters and concepts. A great book for anyone looking to do more with less, looking for strategical advantages in life or career, or just looking to make changes for the better. Photographers may recognize Michael from his youtube channel and epic shoot outs. He reads his own book offering great suggestions on running and building businesses through lessons he has learned on his own and from others. The book is a GOLD MINE of great information, stories and resources. It falls short of 5 stars because it is unpolished- some of the chapters repeat in the audiobook version, such as Chapter 50 (59 in the audiobook at 3 hour 44 remain) is repeated at Chapter 72 in the audiobook (1 hour 44 minutes remaining). I think there were a few others areas that may repeat, and to exercise lessons of efficiency from the book, I'll let someone else look into it. There is something different about the writing that I can't put my finger on, that feels/sounds unpolished and that may have been intentional. These hiccups should not stop anyone from reading the book. The author is a fascinating, kind, good person and one I have grown to respect and admire over the years with his youtube channel, ingenuity, interest in learning and humanitarian efforts. It was a joy to get to know him more through this book and I look forward to seeing what he produces next. Thank you, Michael Andrews, for sharing and making the effort to put this wonderful information out there.

Modern day Benjamin Franklin
There is a well-known adage "Time is money." Benjamin Franklin wrote practical suggestions and tied observations to witty phrases that are still used today. In this collection of new aphorisms or truths, Michael Andrew has coined each chapter with an adage. Some are familiar, some are not. Either way, they make the thought of the strategy fun to remember. I found myself really enjoying the succinct chapters that provoked self-reflection like "The Thought Ruler"; or "The Recycle Loop"; and how if I could apply the information, I'd have more time to do things I enjoy more! The chapter entitled "The Link" had me smiling from ear to ear, chuckling because I think we can all learn better with a sense of humor about how to improve our productivity. Understanding how we can "get more for less" benefits everyone in everyday life. If you have a resource, like this playbook, that organizes practical applications you will have more of what you want like time, money, and freedom. All I can say is that Benjamin Franklin could not have said it better himself!
