a refreshing perspective.
"The Empathy Framework Approach" by LJ Apple offers a refreshing perspective on ADHD, viewing it as a unique way of experiencing the world rather than a problem to solve. My nephew was diagnosed with ADHD and I have been educating myself on how to be with him in an encouraging way and this audiobook has given me much insight. Through its core themes of Understanding, Connection, Guidance, and Growth, the book provides practical strategies for supporting children with ADHD. The author's EMPATHY framework (Embracing, Mindset, Preparation, Advocacy, Togetherness, Harmony, Ying-Yang) effectively guides parents, family and caregivers through daily challenges. Using these approaches with my 12-year-old nephew has helped me to now appreciate his creativity and hyper-focus as strengths rather than limitations.

Education is power
For those who have struggled with hyperactivity disorder all of their lives, or now find themselves in the position of raising children with this disorder, the book is very informative and helps the reader to understand the complexities of day-to-day life with people that do suffer from the disorder. Great read, highly recommended!

Helpful!
This book was an easy listen and very helpful. I feel like it gave me practical advise on how to support and raise my child with ADHD. The book makes me feel not alone in understanding how hard it can be to raise a kid with ADHD. It had a good chapter on empathy and even a very helpful chapter on discipline and how to do it without breaking them down. I would recommend this book to any parent who has a child with ADHD.

A user friendly guide
This book is a breath of fresh air amid the often overwhelming and confusing genre of living with ADHD. The love and compassion of the author is clearly evident and it sounds more like a good friend talking to you than a clinical handbook. Don’t be fooled by the easy going nature though, this book is brimming with excellent ideas and setting a framework for genuine connection and understanding with your ADHD child. There are just so many real world examples that sound like right out of a regular household combined with practical solutions to everyday problems. I was particularly impressed by the fact there were often multiple examples of different ways to tackle the same problems. This is such valuable information since we all know that our kids (and us parents) respond differently depending on the situation and sense of urgency.

Great for coaches
The Empathy Framework approach to parenting A child with ADHD is an educational tool for parents and teachers alike. Over the last 20 years, I coached wrestling children of all personality types and the ADHD phrase was ever present in the room. As a coach with no degree and simple life experiences, I did not have the tools to excel with the ADHD child, but often related with and appreciated their energy and focus for martial arts. LJ Apple did a thorough job explaining the many different types of ADHD, and getting across the gifts this way of thinking bestows. After this read, I now see ADHD in a new light, and I’m certain parents, teachers and coaches will find the empathy framework approach as an in depth guide to helping the ADHD child becoming exceptional individuals in life.

Practical and Actionable Guide! Great Read!
"The Empathy Framework Approach to Parenting Your Child with ADHD" is a compassionate, practical guide for navigating the unique challenges of ADHD parenting. Each chapter—covering topics like Mindfulness, Advocacy, and Self-Care—offers science-backed insights and empathy-driven strategies tailored to your child’s needs.
What truly stood out was how the book addresses the often-overlooked overlap between ADHD and anxiety. It offers clear, actionable insights to help parents distinguish between the two and provides practical tools to support their child in navigating both challenges with confidence and care.
This book goes beyond being just a guide—it’s relatable, full of real-life examples, and packed with warmth and wisdom. Great resource for teachers!
Although I’m not a parent of a child with ADHD, The Empathy Framework Approach to Parenting a Child with ADHD has been a great resource for me as a teacher (with more than 20 years of experience). Working with students who face the unique challenges of ADHD, I found this book provided powerful insights into understanding and connecting with them on a deeper level.
The E.M.P.A.T.H.Y. framework is practical and compassionate, offering actionable strategies for fostering communication, boosting self-esteem, and creating supportive environments. I especially appreciated the focus on highlighting strengths and building resilience, which is key to helping these children thrive.
This audiobook is great for parents, caregivers, and educators looking to empower children with ADHD while strengthening their relationships.
