Publisher's summary

We keep in our mind for some reason as we grow and get older that George Washington wore false wooden teeth and that is why you never see a picture of him smiling. The explanation sounds good when you are a child, and at that time you can’t refute that story. In this version, you will find things about George Washington that might surprise you and that you did not know before you listen to this audiobook. You will find out that he was the type of man that tried to lay things out in such a way as to make his opponent look bad or if need be, to bend the truth if necessary.

Inside you’ll listen about

  • Growing up to be great!
  • What could or would George do now?
  • George takes a wife?
  • George becomes a Mason?
  • What was George’s tie to the Stamp Act, Townshend Acts, and the Continental Congress
  • Revolutionary war, eight long years
  • George retiring? From what? Farming? Military?
  • George has doubts he can lead the nation
  • George elected first president - 1789
  • George and God
  • No looking back - on to Mt. Vernon
  • And much more!

You will still not have every answer to every question you might want to know about this man. In some ways, he was an exciting man, deep thinking and quiet, while in other ways, you will be able to make many comparisons to the way our government is projected now in the fake news and what the press tells us is supposed to be factual reporting on our government. Listen to the entire life story of George Washington - biography, facts, and quotes!

Informational

For anyone who wishes to improve their understanding of who we are as people and how we got here. Also a good check on the state of politics in the US. If you think politics are divisive now,

Never was inspired to enjoy History in school never understood it. But now for the past couple of years. I have been catching up with great series of books and now audible. It's enjoyable once again at the age of 59

Excellent

George Washington sets the standard for American greatness does a tremendous job expressing this idea while compacting Washington's biography without compromising on quality from cover to cover. Strongly recommended

Poorly written

This seemed very myopic in regards to George Washington and the times in which he lived. I feel like it was very one sided in its approach to looking a life. I will not be reading anymore my by The History Hour.
