Exactly What I Needed

As a mom of two autistic kids, this audiobook was like sitting down with someone who gets it. The tips on managing meltdowns, feeding struggles, and setting up routines were super practical—not just theories, but things I could actually try right away. The part about preventing wandering really hit home for me because that’s been a huge worry.

What I loved most was how it didn’t push one “right” way. It gave options, so I could pick what works for my kids. It also reminded me to trust my gut as a parent, which is something I needed to hear. If you're in the trenches like I am, this is worth your time.

A wonderful guide

I highly recommend this book for anyone who has a loved one with autism, whether it's your own child or not. It doesn't pull punches and gives a very realistic account about what it's like to parent a child with autism. It's an incredibly resource for those who have been trying to figure out what a family member is going through or for the parent themself who has a child with autism and aren't sure what to expect in the long run. It gives lots of help of things you can do like games, etc and I just can't stress enough how in depth it goes.

A Helpful Resource If You Have An Autistic Child

As the parent of a nearly three-year-old with autism, I found the guidance in this autism parenting handbook invaluable. The author clearly grasps the challenges of raising a child with autism, acknowledging the stress it can involve. Her book begins by affirming the intelligence of children with autism and offers understanding and practical advice for handling transitions and managing emotions. It also includes helpful tips for potty training, which I plan to start with my son after his birthday. Overall, this book is an excellent resource for parents of autistic children.

Information matched well with my experiences

I felt incredibly seen by this book. I don't have my own children, but have worked with special needs groups before and even just doing that came with particular challenges. This book not only acknowledged those, but gave exceptional and practical advice and how to handle them in ways that not only benefits the child, but allows the parent/caretaker to feel more confident in the abilities as well.
