About this listen

No institution in American society generates as much curiosity, fear, and intrigue as the FBI. No institution can obtain so much information and penetrate so deeply into our private lives. And no institution plays a greater role in safeguarding our freedom - or potentially threatening it.

In this groundbreaking book, award-winning journalist Ronald Kessler provides a firsthand look at the people who run the Bureau, the methods they use, the powers they wield, and the secrets they hold.

Learn how the FBI solved some of the most highly publicized cases in history, including Watergate, the Pan Am 103 bombing, the Patty Hearst kidnapping, and the World Trade Center bombing. Learn also how and why the FBI fumbled such important cases as the David Koresh cult tragedy in Waco and the Rodney King beating. This revealing book will change the way America perceives the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Disorganized by interesting

The stories collected in this book are entertaining to listen to but are organized in such a rambling, random fashion that it makes it hard to get through.

I love to know about the FBI!

I am very interested in the FBI. Having learned about the law in school it is great to know about the highest level of law enforcement that we are aware of in the U.S. I didn’t know how many things FBI employees are exposed to. It is an older work, probably before the year 2000, but it gives me a perspective about the FBI of today as well.

Good story but.......

Terrible editing job; narrator mispronounced the name of one of the largest military bases in the US and home to the FBI Academy and FBI Laboratory for 17 hours. This huge mistake trivialized the book. Is it just the English teacher in me, or do narrators, who are being paid for correct pronunciations, never think to LOOK UP A WORD THEY DON’T KNOW HOW TO PRONOUNCE!
