About this listen

Desperate to delay an impending attack by the indigenous people of Xidda, Tau and his queen craft a dangerous plan. If Tau succeeds, the queen will have the time she needs to assemble her forces and launch an all-out assault on her own capital city, where her sister is being propped up as the 'true' Queen of the Omehi.

If the city can be taken, if Tsiora can reclaim her throne and reunite her people, then the Omehi might have a chance to survive the coming onslaught.

A true work of passion

Evan Winter has continued to amaze me with his ability to convey emotion in a way that I see few authors achieve. Rage, grief and contemplation are expertly communicated in each chapter.
Although there are times when I missed the fast pacing and personal investment of the first book, this one manages to expand both the world and the larger consequences of Tau’s anger, giving us time to follow his growth as he reflects on the path he’a taking.
You can see from the prequel that Evan Winter understands the struggle of swimming against the current.
I don’t think this is a good book “by the standards of self published works” or that you should buy it to support a minority, but I firmly believe this work is one of the greats in a professional standard and Evan Winter has worked hard and earned his spot.

Amazing from start to finish.

a perfect follow up, and some of the best logistics in an epic fantasy that I've read recently. I loved the character development and growth

World building and performance pays off

This novel is perfectly adapted as an audio book. The world that is being built by author Evan Winter is so rich and complex it can almost be daunting to keep up with the many layers of character, society and lore that he is interweaving. The performance by Prentice Onayemi is masterful in bringing this new world to life. It quickly becomes familiar and the characters feel like old friends. My only disappointment is having to wait for the next book.
