About this listen

Lacrael never intended to return home like this.

Cast into the realm of Vaul against her will, she is forced to don a disguise to avoid being recognized. In a world where the air itself can kill and the people worship death, Lacrael must lead the others to safety through a hostile empire filled with treachery, deceit, and murder. And the moment Lacrael steps through the portal with Kaiser and Sorrell, they are stripped of their powers.

They find themselves trapped in a brutal, hostile wasteland with nothing but their wits and a faint trace of magic to help them. Mazareem follows the three champions, compelled to hunt them even though it may cost him everything. Morricant, The Lady of Pain, rules Vaul, and she harbors a special hatred for Mazareem that has smoldered for a thousand years.

As Lacrael battles to find a path through the chaos, she tries to ignore the terrible truth that no one escapes Vaul without leaving something behind...

This is the third book in the series. It’s fantastic with so many different parts, weaving together so well. Such a great story. The reader is AI and does well as far as AI goes. Would be nice to have some slightly different tones for different character voices, but ultimately is pleasant to listen to and well paced.

Great story
