About this listen

Berlitz Kids' The Five Crayons is the introduction to the Adventures with Nicholas series. Featuring easy French vocabulary and simple sentences, this story teaches colors, numbers from one to ten, rooms and furniture, animals, weather expressions, means of transportation, location words, and more. The 60-minute program offers a catchy, thematically related song for each chapter. Listen to the audio story and sing along with each of the songs: it's a fun learning experience for students, parents, or teachers.Download the accompanying booklet.©1998 Berlitz Publishing Company, Inc. I thought this program was great for me. I listened to it in my car several times and will listen to it again. It is helping me reinforce, among other things, names of colors in French. I like the fact that it has a story and vocabulary sections.
Other critiques have said it isn't good for children as a stand-along audio program, which may be true, but for me, it's great.

Great for Adult Learner

This audio file was meant to accompany a children's picture book and is quite useless without it. I regret that I did not pay attention to the other reviews.

Not at all happy with this purchase

A poor learning tool. The story is entirely in French followed by a French-English "dictionary." The listener is intended to follow along in an accompanying book which is referred to by the narrator. Without the book, a child who isn't already familiar with the grammar and vocabulary they are meant to be learning will get little out of it.

Not a stand-alone audio book

I bought this to work with my young son. I thought this would be fun to do together. The audio keeps referring to pictures in the book (downloadable) but it is merely a Word document with no pictures. He was very disappointed. We ended up going to Barnes and Noble to purchase one.
