Publisher's summary

In the early days of 1924, Mary Russell and her husband, the inimitable Sherlock Holmes, are given an urgent task by his brother, Mycroft: find a British spy gone missing along India's northwest frontier, where men are dying and trouble is brewing. The spy's name? It is one Holmes knows from his sojourn in India long ago, and one Russell knows from a book. It is Kimball O'Hara, known to the world by the name Rudyard Kipling called him - Kim....

Love this deries

So very well written (and read) and I am addicted to this series. Delightful how each book feeds into the next one even though it's a completely different adventure. Highly recommended.

American accent needs work

The narrator does well except when it comes to American accents. It hurt my ears listening to her narrate the Americans speech in an indecipherable accent, not American, not British, not anything.

Excellent story telling.

The author really paints a picture of India. You can practically smell the place. The reading is exceptional.

Great Adventure

I’m working my way through this series and this is my favorite since the very first book. Very fun adventure!

I really don’t enjoy the narrator, but the entire series is done by her and it’s never been done again. The writing is worth bearing through the voice acting. But this may be a book I decide to get in paperback and enjoy even more in my own voice.

Another great Russell and Holmes story

Laurie King is a master storyteller. I could almost feel that I was in India taking trip with her. I could see and smell all of the sights with her. I winced when she was hurt and I thoroughly enjoyed the story.

Oh my gosh

Wow. I got so stressed listening to the things the Maharaja did and just wanted to shit him myself. I am sure there have been crazy people in power -yes I know there has been.

Intense and historically touching upon the past. Brilliant story.

Suspension of disbelief

Ms King's masterful writing allows for- triggers the suspension of our disbelief. Russel & Holmes working with the adult Kipling's Kim? This is one of her better books - certainly better than her following last two. This book is well worth keeping in one's library.
