Publisher's summary
A cozy whodunit with a twist
Will Scarlet be able to piece together clues to solve the murder before it‘s too late? Or will she find herself playing a dangerous game with a killer? When a bad case of writer‘s block prevents Scarlet Lane from wrapping up a successful detective series, she agrees to take a weekend trip to the mountains with her best friend, Quinn, to partake in an interactive game of murder. When they arrive at the secluded retreat of Mystery Ridge Lodge, Scarlet is hopeful that the distraction of vintage costumes and cozy ambiance will inspire her to write a satisfying conclusion.
But when the body discovered turns out to be really dead, the game takes a twisted leap from fiction into reality.
Meanwhile, as the guests discuss motives, means, and alibis, fingers soon point to Scarlet when they discover she’d been seen running from the scene of the crime. Suddenly, she realizes that to clear her name, she must team up with Quinn and put her investigative skills into action (which, up to this point, had only been used for solving mysteries in crime novels).
Join Scarlet and Quinn as they try to smoke out the killer in this twisty adventure…with an ending you won’t see coming.

Before they could light the fire, lightning struck the tree, leaving a heart-shaped hole and the name CORA burned into the bark. Fantastic story with a great twist!
Scarlett and Quinn spend the weekend at Mystery Ridge Lodge for a interactive murder mystery. Sounds like an fun escape from everyday to dress up as century-old characters and solve a pretend murder. That is, until the real murders start occurring! Scarlett has to investigate and clear her name before it’s too late. I absolutely loved the story, the classic Agatha Christie type atmosphere and the twists and turns. This is the first in the Scarlett Lane mystery series by K.Lee Brown and I can’t wait for the next one. The narration by Lauren Pedersen is outstanding. She creates unique voices for all the characters and brings them and the story to life.

Stupendous
Wow! What a rider that was. A special two for one deal. Two stories for the price of one! The ending left me gobsmacked but quite happy. The lodge story was a well crafted plan of deceits and red herrings that held me captive. But the ending had me roflmao. I didn't see it and fell hook line and sinker and enjoyed it all. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest opinion. The narrator did a great job bringing the characters and story to life. Well played!!
