About this listen

Neil Carson, a lifelong sceptic inherits his late uncle’s Victorian house where, in spite of life-long scepticism, he starts to experience increasingly weird events and seeing spectral figures all seemingly reliving a long forgotten tragedy. His scepticism is stretched still further when he meets the living counterpart of one of the spectres he has seen and then matters take a horrifying turn as those long-ago events start to play themselves out once more.

I suppose I must have been working sporadically for maybe an hour when suddenly I once again had that feeling that I wasn’t alone. Some form of sixth sense suddenly brought it home to me, much the same feeling one gets when the feeling erupts that someone is looking at you and, upon glancing up to investigate, you discover it is true. One moment I was wrestling with a particularly difficult passage in the fifth chapter that I couldn’t get right and the next I had that prickling sensation that told me as clear as the spoken word that I was not alone. I glanced up and immediately the hairs stood up on the back of my neck as I saw a figure on the far side of the room. The figure of a woman, yet all too plainly not a living person for I could see right through her.
