Ghostwriter Olivia Dumont has spent her entire professional life hiding the fact that she is the only child of legendary horror author Vincent Taylor, famous not only for his novels, but for being the prime suspect in the brutal slaying of his siblings.

On the brink of financial ruin, Olivia reluctantly agrees to ghostwrite her father's last book, not realising that she will be forced to reckon with the ghosts that live at the centre of her family. Because after fifty years of silence, Vincent Taylor is finally ready to talk. But is he ready to tell the truth?

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 stars full of humanity, redemption, and truth

This book surprised me, moved me, and transformed me. Though it’s presented as a thriller, to me, it’s so much more than that: it’s a story of understanding, of deep forgiveness, of seeing with new eyes what we once thought was already judged and closed. It’s the kind of read that breaks internal patterns and makes you pause and truly feel.

Julie Clark achieves something magical: chapter by chapter, she guides you through a journey of emotional growth, of shedding old stories and recognizing that love, pain, and truth can all coexist.

I loved how Olivia —the main character— embodies that process of inner liberation. As she writes, she rewrites herself. And she invites us to do the same: to stop judging, to release inherited resentments, to forgive ourselves for not knowing what we can now finally see.

This is not just a thriller. It’s a book about life. About everything we hide, carry, and ultimately must face to finally live free.

I recommend it with all my heart. 💔➡️💗
An unexpected gem.
A reminder that truth doesn’t always free us because of what it reveals, but because of what it allows us to heal.

Vincent Taylor is the only surviving sibling when his brother and sister are found murdered. Many years later, he is a successful author, but can’t get away from the opinion of many that he is the one who murdered his siblings. With his health failing, he enlists the help of his estranged daughter, Olivia, to ghost write his memoir, which will be the first time he will have spoken about the death of his siblings. The ending !!! Really good thriller whilst portraying an extremely dysfunctional family.
