Publisher's summary

I never believed I’d see my daughter again. Until a mysterious girl arrives at my door in the middle of a snowstorm.

My five-year-old daughter Riley disappeared from a playground ten years ago, moments after I opened a cryptic letter from what the police believed was a deranged fan.

In the aftermath of Riley’s disappearance, I tried to create a safe place for myself. I live alone in a secluded cabin in Montana, writing horror novels and hiking with my dog.

Until Miranda knocks on my door, half frozen, telling me an unbelievable story. There is no reason for a young girl to be out in a storm so severe it knocked out my power and isolated me from the outside world. I know something isn’t right.

After she sings a song I wrote for my daughter, she promptly disappears again. An age progression photo of Riley proves Miranda is my daughter, despite her father’s insistence that my solitary life has warped my mind.

Following the clues Miranda left behind, I end up at the local library where I meet a man who brings the frozen parts of me back to life. With the help the librarian and a local deputy, we search for the missing girl.

When I finally find her, it may be too late to save either of us.

Warm tense and fuzzy

kept my attention except for the unwelcome romantic intrusion. AI voice too calm foreffect. Enjoyed nevertheless.
