About this listen

With this follow-up to The Royal Wulff Murders, acclaimed author Keith McCafferty brings back fly-fishing PI Sean Stranahan for a second quirky adventure. When two graves are found on the mysterious Sphinx Mountain, the local sheriff suspects murder and calls on Stranahan to join the case. Then a vintage Gray Ghost lure from a riverside cabin disappears, and Stranahan begins to suspect that a deeper mystery is lurking just beneath the surface.

I enjoyed Keith’s “word pictures “. Having spent a good part of the summer in this region of Montana I could visualize being there again. He will be added to my listening library!

McCafferty’s characters are well developed and accessible with his intimate knowledge of the backdrop of this story. A good read for a passionate fly fisherman

Great pairing of narration and storytelling

A PG-13 version of Patrick McManus' Bo Tully series: private investor who is both an artist and fly fisherman. Loved the mystery, Montana setting, and characters. The girl live interest is much better than the other one in the first book. Same narrator but is better in this one too.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Good storyline
Good narration
Good characterization
What else can I say.... ah yes, I would recommend to someone else and I can't wait for another book by Keith McCafferty.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Gray Ghost Murders?

The fact that someone can develop a story line around fishing lures is memorable to me!

What does Rick Holmes bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I love the sound of his voice as Shanahan

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I could not "put it down". Had to listen to it all.

Any additional comments?

Waiting to hear more from Keith.......

Pure Enjoyment!

Love the characters in this series, so glad I found these books. As an avid fly fisherman and hiker I'm really enjoying the balance between the story and the beautifully depicted landscapes.

Keith McCafferty has written another great addition to the Sean Strangham series. The characters continue to grow. Rick Holmes does a great job bringing the characters to life.

Another great addition

2nd book in the series, and there was no drop in story telling. There is plenty of questions and blood to be sure. Gir problems grow, and you will conclude this book not knowing what future choices will pop up. Shaun's fishing buds provide lots of info, and humor, Sam is a bigger than life character, with free spirited comments about anything that works its way in to his head.
There are so many subjects brought up in this story there will be more than a few you can fins some interest
Try to read in order it helps with understanding who these characters really are
