About this listen

The audiobook chronicles the Great Awakening that gave people the means to develop an individual sense of spiritual conviction. Jonathan Edwards and George Whitefield were two of the most prominent leaders of the Great Awakening. Together, they forged a new form of evangelical Christianity that made sense to ordinary people and came to epitomize religion in America.

Many details

There was nothing bad about the book but it has a repetition of very similar happenings across many towns with different teachers preachers.

You have to really like tiny details. Once i got the big picture of what is happening, I lost interest to hear it over and over.

Truly awful narration of interesting history

This history is incredibly interesting and it’s a great exploration of source documents near the events of the first great awakening. Unfortunately, the reader of this audio book is so awful that it becomes near impossible to determine when Tracey ends and a quoted passage begins. This is probably one I should have bought in paper form.
