About this listen

A hidden power. A forbidden cargo. A soldier-turned-guardian must choose between duty and truth.

Zaren Joha was forged for war—but now serves as the Queen’s Blade, the last magical sentinel of Busal City. Tasked with protecting the realm from arcane threats, he uncovers a shipment laced with strange powder and powerful secrets.

What begins as a simple investigation unravels a deeper conspiracy—one that stretches into the heart of the Queen’s court and challenges everything Zaren thought he knew about magic, loyalty, and himself.

As magic stirs in hidden corners and enemies close in from the shadows, Zaren must master his newfound abilities and embrace the dangerous legacy within him.

Because the Queen’s Blade doesn’t just guard the realm.

He is the realm’s last line of defense.

The story is ok, but it does repeat the same thing multiple times through out the book and it gets a little annoying. The virtual voice would be fine for a person you are talking to, but it does not belong on Audible's platform. It is simply speech to text and it cannot understand the sentences, paragraphs, story, or speakers. Emphasis is wrong. There is no ability to capture the mood. There are times where it is difficult to know which person is speaking. It is simply a monotone. On an audio book site you expect to have a voice actor to make the books enjoyable. I don't recommend purchasing any of these audio books. If it is free go for it.

I really wanted more from the threads that were started. The novel has a compelling premise. The magic was neat. The mentor student relationship sounded like a good idea too.

The AI narrator wasn’t so great. Mispronouncing words and lacking inflection on the story telling.

The storyline is good. The virtual voice is not perfected, but it isn't terrible either. I look forward to seeing what the future holds with improvements to this style of AI voice narration.

Virtual voice is a little off, but ok
