About this listen

Boothenay Irons, to her own bewilderment, is the possessor of a mysterious power. By profession a gunsmith, there is something within her that answers to the history held within an antique gun. Not only can she hear its story, she is sometimes able to go back in time and interact with its history.

Blood, as she comes to realize, is the road that carries her between times. Her strange ability began as a teenager while restoring an old gun. She slipped into a trance and witnessed an event in the weapon's history. Later she was drawn closer and found herself back in time where the guns story was unfolding, and she was no longer herself...but instead she became the person holding the gun....

While the story and narration are very good some may find the sound quality distracting. There is a slight echo for the entire recording and another recoding is fully audible for approximately a minute.

Good story; poor sound quality

The story was of average quality, but the audio recording leaves much to be desired.

While the narrator was fairly talented, there is a persistant echo throughout the entire recording. For the portions that I listened to while wearing headphones, I heard background noise that sounded alternately like an old computer modem or background conversation.

Most distractingly, and appallingly (considering the usual superb quality of audible downloads), there is a section of audio toward the end of part 1 of the download during which a Toyota commerical is superimposed over the story narrative! I was shocked by this!

I don't have much to say either way about the content of the book. Mainly, this is because the "recorded-in-some-dude's-basement" quality of the audio was so alarming, aggravating, and annoying. My recommendation: Get this one in paperback format. Overall impression: I can't believe I paid for this.
