About this listen

Three brothers, Don, Bill, and Rusty Halliway are used to being out on the water. They spend their summers helping out with their family business shuttling passengers, fisherman, and cargo on “ The Janice Kay” around Lake of the Woods in northern Minnesota. The boys have an uncanny ability to get themselves wrapped up in one mystery after another. If a mysterious situation arises, the three boys somehow end up in the middle of it. While this does become trying for their parents, it does prevent life from becoming monotonous. On a trip to the Florida Keys to help out an old friend, the three brothers find themselves in the middle of a big mystery surrounding an old treasure map. Is the map a hoax, or will it really lead to buried treasure? It soon becomes clear that the they are not the only ones interested in that map. "There's no need to look in there," his brother told him. "No one got in our room. It couldn't be done with us right here all the time." Rusty unscrewed the lid and stared into the long cylinder. "I—I don't see it," he said. "Here!" Bill exclaimed. "Let me have it!" He took the case and turned it upside down, shaking it vigorously. The brothers stared at one another. "Bill!" Rusty cried. "It—it's gone!" "I don't see how it could be. We were right here! No one could have broken in and stolen that map without us hearing him!" "But somebody did," Rusty replied numbly. "Somebody slipped in here and got that map!" "We'd better go topside and find Don!" Bill said excitedly. Their brother was on duty. "Somebody got the map," Rusty whispered. "They slipped right into our cabin and got it while we were asleep." "I was afraid of that," Don said. "You fellows wait here. I'm going to talk to Captain Tracy."
