About this listen

Three brothers, Don, Bill, and Rusty Halliway are used to being right in the middle of adventures and mysteries. They normally spend their summers helping out with their family business: shuttling passengers, fisherman, and cargo on “The Janice Kay” around Lake of the Woods in northern Minnesota. But the boys have an uncanny ability to get themselves wrapped up in one adventure after another. If a situation arises, the three boys somehow end up in the middle of it. While this does become trying for their parents, it does prevent life from becoming monotonous. Don Halliway seldom backed away from an invitation to adventure, but this time his decision hung in the balance. Should he agree to accompany two brothers who competed for fame and control? An expedition to the top of Forbidden Mountain required teamwork and cooperation and the Halliway boys soon became aware of the a dangerous situation they had gotten themselves into. "Let me go," he snarled angrily. "Let me go! I've taken all the abuse I'm going to take from him! That's all he's done since we left Anchorage! Needling me and giving me a bad time! I'll teach him!" "Let him go, Halliway!" Lee retorted, stuffing the letter in his pocket. "I've been wanting to get at him myself. The great Ross Ainsworth! What would your public think if they could see you now?" He laughed scornfully. Ross struggled to free himself, but Don only tightened his grip on the mountain climber. "Listen to reason, you two!" Don panted. The exertion at the high altitude caused them all to breathe heavily. "You can't be at each other's throats like a couple of grade school kids. What's the matter with you, anyway?" When Lee saw that Don wasn't going to release Ross, he took the letter from his pocket and tore it open. "Halliway!" the younger mountain climber cried under his breath. "Let me go! We can't let Lee read that letter!" It was too late! Lee's face went white and his hands began to tremble. "Ross!" he said, his voice choking. "Ross! You lied to me!"
