The Complete Series ~
Feisty Maggie MacBede will never marry a warrior. Och no! With eight strapping brothers and a warrior of a Da, she has had enough of holding her own against great headstrong men. She’ll not risk her heart to the sword. Give her a poet, a bard, any man but a fighting man, and she will find her match.
Talorc the Bold, the Laird MacKay, has no care for Maggie’s foolishness. When he heard the MacBede battle cry, “For Our Maggie!” and witnessed the impossible victory it spurred, he set out to marry her for the clan. Then he felt her in his arms and knew he would marry her for himself and the grand power of their mating.
The clan intercedes, the two are Handfasted, married for a year and a day as an enemy lurks deep in the belly of the clan. By winning his bride’s love, Talorc may just lose her life.

Any additional comments?
Strong men and women. Conflict between clans and within families. A romance that was meant to be but has so many obstacles. Unpredictable, sensual, dark villains, spies and betrayal. Great story and the narrator did it justice. You can get lost in this one.Wonderful highland romance

The bones of this book is really good. However, Maggie is a brat, irrational, immature & in this part of history a tragedy.
Maggie who is raised to be a Laird's wife with 6 brother's is vara lucky indeed. Especially with brothers who have wives & have no idea what a hand fasting. My biggest issue is she doesn't learn from her mistakes.
The 1st few times, I can understand. However, Maggie knew dam well she was wrong. Her development is way way off. I am very old fashioned & very traditional.
I raised my kids to understand everything you say & do has consequences. Good or bad. Right or wrong.
I honestly think I would have loved the book if Maggie grew up as she went along. I am now on chapter 28 I am struggling. I love listening to books while I cook & clean. It's Christmas baking & I find myself speeding the book up. I hate that. I am already not sure if I can fishing it.
Because of the economy, if I have a book that I don't remember but I listened a few books in a series I am going to finish them.
My FAVORITE book is The Prophecy. I have 3 credits & 3 paid pre ordered because I don't anything to snag me. I listen to Kim Sakwa's book at leat every other month. You hear how the main charactesr develops as you listen.
Again, I really wanted to love this book. Maggie just doesn't develop as well the the book does.
This could have been a fantastic book.

The problem I have with this book is that I never was completely sold on the characters. I didn't necessarily feel that they were falling in love or feeling attraction really. The author wrote it but her writing didn't make me feel it. That doesn't mean that I disliked the book it was good it was fine it just didn't invoke any major feelings within me. It was one of those that I did not have a problem taking the ear buds out and waiting until morning to listen to more of it.
It's hard to like the heroine because she's stupid and unrealistic about a lot of things. I don't condone senseless violence but we're talking about the 1700's and there's a rebellion going on. This guy IS fighting for his country and honor and revenge! It just it makes no sense for her to be like "no you can't harm anybody" and all this ....it just gets annoying.
I'm not going to immediately read the rest of the books in the series. Even though I want to find out some of the other stories this book series just may not be at the very top of my list it may be something I have to revisit when I don't have quite as many really good books waiting for me to listen to.
Okay Highland story.. heroine a bit annoying
