Publisher's summary

To rescue my brother, I’ll venture into the witch’s lair.

When my brother Hansel disappears after being last seen in the company of a mysterious beauty, alarm bells rings in my head. When I discover that the traveling beauty is a wicked witch who kidnaps humans and steals their willpowers, I know I have to rescue Hansel.

I venture into the lair of the witch, the Black Forest, swearing I’ll either leave with my brother or die trying.

When I run into General Stefan at the edge of the Black Forest, who’s there on the behalf of the king, we form a tumultuous alliance. Stefan drives me crazy even as the attraction between us grows. But I can’t afford to worry about silly feelings. Cloaked in spells, the witch’s forest is no child game. We’ll have to use every ounce of our willpowers to not succumb to the witch’s sweet, poisonous treats if we want to win and leave with our minds intact.

Will Stefan and I find a way to outsmart the witch, or will we become her latest victims?

If you like Kiera Cass, Serena Valentino, and Liz Braswell, you’ll love this clean YA Fairy Tale filled with adventure, love, magic, and a strong heroine!

The Hansel and Gretel Curse is the third book in the Cursed Fairy Tale series. Each book can be read as a stand-alone. However, for greatest enjoyment, the novels should be listened to in order.

Hansel and Gretel with a Twist

Loved this book so much. It was definitely a new take on the classic tale. The way the gingerbread houses were used was clever. The twist on the witch was refreshing. If you like a good fractured fairytale, you’ll definitely want to read this.

Can Gretel Save Hansel?

Reviewer: Teresa Fallen Angel

Summary:
This is a wonderful twist to an old fairy tale with an unexpected twist. Gretel’s brother Hansel disappears without a trace after a night out with his friends on their birthday. Now Gretel is more happy spending time with her books and is a total opposite of Hansel. It isn’t until after he is gone that Gretel learns the truth, her brother’s life was signed over to the witch when they came of age. Gretel takes a chance that the queen may know some way to save Hansel. Gretel takes on the task to save her brother and meets up with General Stefan who will do whatever he can to save his country.

Now there are many secrets that have once revealed could change everything for both Gretel and Hansel. Will they find a way to save Hansel before it is too late? Who exactly is General Stefan?

This was an incredibly intricate story that took the original fairy tale to a whole now level. I enjoyed hoe the audio-book brought the characters alive for the listener.

Fabulous Twist to a Classic Fairytale

This book was an amazing audible. I love how the author was able to update this classic story yet leave us in the world of page-turning magic. This story gives us a heroine, Gretel, who is willing to do whatever it takes to help her brother Hansel when she learns he has been kidnapped. She does not blink when she learns that the kidnapper is a beautiful wicked witch who kidnaps humans and takes away their willpower by enticing them with candy. Gretel does feel somewhat guilty that she should have attended their 17th birthday party with Hansel instead of declining the invitation and staying home to read a book.

Gretel travels into the Black Forest, where the witch lives. To her surprise, she runs into the Queen's General Stephan. Stephan is also on a mission to help the royal family, as he is the only one able to get close to the Black Forest. Soldiers who were sent into the forest never returned, so it's up to Stephan to help. Gretel and Stephan decide to work together to save Hansel and the royal family. They go through several challenges and obstacles along the way. Gretel and Stephan develop and friendship, and yes, their friendship slowly transforms into something more significant.

During their journey, Stephan is faced with betrayal he didn't see coming, and Gretel makes friends with a magical being that offers assistance when she needs it the most. Although tied to the witch, Hansel still has a connection to his sister, and the question throughout the storyline will have you wondering how long the bond will survive between the two siblings. I love HEA storylines and was not disappointed.

Margo Ryerkerk does an exceptional job of providing well-developed characters. The performance of these characters is very believable as they are brought to life by the narrator, Andy Garcia-Ruse. This audible is a highly entertaining twist to the classic, and if you enjoy fairytales, you will not be disappointed with the purchase of The Hansel and Gretel Curse.
