About this listen
THE HELL RIDERS
The people of that remote desert town called him Gatten, but that was not his real name. Those who knew his real name never told anyone. And if they knew, they never told anyone why he had come so far or waited so long to right some old wrongs and give the wrongdoers the dose of lead they needed. The two people who seemed the most worried about Gatten’s intentions were crippled old Colonel Easton and the young woman who claimed to be his wife. After Gatten shot their black cook off the balcony outside the window of his hotel room, they sent their so-called ranch hands, one or two at a time, to kill him. But after the old Colonel’s heart quit on him because of all the excitement, the remaining hands began to suspect that the beautiful and deadly young widow was deliberately sending them to their deaths, knowing they were no match for a gundowner like Gatten. Some of them even suspected that Gatten was a rider from hell, sent by the devil to send them where they belonged. But they wouldn’t know the real truth until they themselves became hell riders. WARNING: Reading a Van Holt western may make you want to get on a horse and hunt some bad guys down in the Old West. Of course, the easiest and most enjoyable way to do it is vicariously—by reading another Van Holt western. Van Holt writes westerns the way they were meant to be written.
