A good overview of the history of witchcraft

A good overview of the history of witchcraft, this book delves into the rich history of witchcraft, and the changes the practice has undergone over time and different cultures. From the traditions of ancient civilizations to modern-day practitioners, this book covers the evolution of witchcraft through history.

The book covers the roots of witchcraft, the role it has played in socities throughout the ages - the witch trials of the medieval period and the misunderstood nature of wizards and warlocks.

It also covers modern times, with the transformation into Wicca and Neo-Paganist practices, as well as covering the symbolisms and use of "magical" tools and ingredients.

The book is well presented and the narrator is clear and has a slightly husky voice well suited for the material, altough some may find the dialect a bit distracting.

Dry tone & poor organization = difficult to finish

While the book contains some interesting information about witchcraft, I had some issues that made the book less enjoyable for me.

Pros:
- The book sets out to do what is says it will do it and so you will hear aand learn about what it says it will discuss.
- I did learn some interesting things about witchcraft.

Cons:
- Organization: I did not enjoy how the book way organzied. Most chapters are divided into subchapters, explaining a singular piece of history, story, or practice, then jumping to the next history or practice, rather than interweaving and synthesizing these histories and stories together to explain a more full & intersting picture/history. It is very piecemeal. Additionally, I felt chapter 2: famous witches was very out of place. I would have moved this chapter to the end perhaps to picque the interest of those wanting to hear about a few famous faces. The descriptions of the famous witches are also very brief and underwhelming.
- Sources: I don't know how credible the sources are for some information. Sometimes the author cites/quotes other authors without explaining how that cited aithor is relevant to or credible for the topic at hand. I also remember some sources are from history.com. It seems the sources are not primary sources or research.
- Tone: The overall tone of the book is historical and straightforward, which is fine, but it was dry for my taste and made it difficult to listen to with strong interest.
