About this listen
The Hound of Thornfield High is a retelling of Charlotte Bronte's 1847 classic, Jane Eyre, but as a contemporary young adult novel.
In this rendition, Jane Eyre, seventeen, is a student at Thornfield High. Ready for a fun senior year with her best friend, Helen Burns, Jane is quickly unmoored by Eddie Rochester, a new student who matriculates when Thornfield High merges with Milcott High. Unfortunately, Eddie is already dating Bertha Mason.
When the relationship between Eddie and Bertha sours, Eddie begins chasing the beautiful Blanche Ingram. Meanwhile, Jane uncovers a secret that jeopardizes everything she knows about her family. To complicate Jane's heart, SJ Rivers confesses feelings for her, too.
This is Jane Eyre's story, adapted for younger listeners, and told in our contemporary world of cell phones, text messages, and social media; it's still, at heart, the story of a resilient woman, her journey to discover who she is, and what she really wants.

Sweet
This is a pretty sweet listen perfect for younger readers. It's a little slow moving and drawn out and I feel like we don't get a whole lot of resolution at the end, I would have like a little epilogue and gotten some answers with Jane. Narration was not horrendous but leaves a lot to be desired. It was monotone and there are some sound issues as well as pronunciation problems.

Sweet and Innocent
This was definitely a young adult book. However, it was most enjoyable. A story of a teenage girl in high school and her woes of first love. Jane Eyre was a likeable young lady. Her character was full of life and the author had a way of bringing you into the story. It was a clean story with a secret that comes out that was not expected. It was a quick fun read. I don't normally read young adult books, but I'm glad I came across this one. I listened to the audio version of the novel and the narrator, Megan Martonick was good. She wasn't great, but did keep my interest and fit the part of a young teenage girl. I highly recommend the book to anyone with a teenager or interested in an entertaining easy read.

Highschool love.
I very much enjoyed this retelling of Jane Ayre. It put me back in my high-school days. Experiencing my first loves and awkwardness. Oh, to be young again.
Thanks to the author for gifting me an Audible version of this book through Story Origin. The narrator, Megan Martonick, has the perfect voice for this book. Sweet and innocent. However, she read it with a little too much cadence and not enough expression for me. And she mispronounced a couple of words. 4 stars for her.
