An explosion sends roughneck Otto Daniel’s body into icy Prudhoe Bay where he has an unsettling vision.

After weeks of recovery in the burn unit of Fairbanks Regional Hospital, he heads northwest and takes a job in a small town in the wilds of Alaska. When tragedy strikes, Otto has that same eerie vision for the second time in his life.

Alone again, Otto leaves Alaska for good and wanders the northwest coast of the United States trying to find answers to unknown questions. He ends up working for the exotic Hazel J. Himmel, owner of Jinxie’s Tattoo Karma. Strange things begin to happen at Jinxie’s. At the midpoint of tattooing certain clients, Otto and Hazel find themselves transported instantaneously to astonishing places, only to return to the tattoo shop, without interruption in their work!

Can they really be time-traveling? How can they be in two places at one time? Otto and Hazel realize they are on this strange trajectory for a reason and are committed to finding out why.

What will happen to Otto and Hazel? Will the time travel event end as abruptly as it had begun? Will they figure it all before it's too late?

Ink of Time blends emotion, mystery, and a really unique twist on time and connection. Otto’s story is told across three timelines—his childhood, recent past, and present—which gives you a deep understanding of who he is and what he’s survived. You can’t help but feel for him.

One of the most unforgettable moments is when Otto shows up at Hazel’s tattoo shop looking for a job—having never met her before—and he has her face tattooed on his leg. Hazel is just as thrown as he is, and she hires him, clearly sensing there’s something bigger at play. That decision sets off a series of strange events where, during certain tattoos, they’re suddenly transported to different places, sharing experiences that defy logic.

The question of how Otto and Hazel are connected—and why—keeps the tension strong as their stories slowly come together. Just when you think you understand what’s happening, the story pulls you somewhere new—literally.

Tara Sitrick delivered an outstanding performance as the narrator. Her character voices were clear and expressive, and she captured the emotion of each scene beautifully. I always enjoy listening to her work and would gladly listen to anything she narrates.

I’m definitely moving on to Book 2 to see how everything fits together. If you like stories that are emotional, mysterious, and full of unexpected turns, this is a great one to dive into.

I enjoyed following Otto through the twists of his life and how it all came together in the end. The flashbacks are a bit confusing at first. I think noting the year would be helpful going back and forth between the story lines. The narration was excellent. Very relaxing . I look forward to the next book.

Fun listen!
