Publisher's summary
Having no family, Jade MacKenna answers a mail order bride advert and travels across the ocean from Ireland to America to meet her intended. Taking the Express Rail to Rough Creek, Missouri, with her future husband, Mike Summerfield, they get caught in a holdup led by the notorious bandit, Hank Bentley. Things turn tragic, and Jade finds herself left alone in a strange land, with her fiancé dying in her arms.
US Marshal Hugo Rhode has been tracking the Bentley gang for months. When his friend Mike is caught in the crossfire, Hugo is charged with caring for Jade. He takes her home to his parents in Rough Creek, and they find that the troubles they’ve been through have drawn them together in ways neither could have imagined.
But Hugo has been burned by love before - and long ago swore to never let himself be hurt like that again. With the Bentley gang out for blood, Hugo and Jade struggle with their feelings for each other, fighting to stay alive and to stay safe and, despite it all, to stay together.

Sweet Historical Romance
I enjoyed this short story! The hero is a Marshal, so there's murder, kidnapping, and of course love! I thought the narrator did a great job with her Irish heroine as well as her Western characters!

Satisfied the romantic in me
The Irish Orphan Bride is a delightful story of a mail order bride, Jade. Her journey of heart, soul and body from Ireland to the western U.S., is filled with suspense, heartbreak, compassion and, ultimately, unexpected love. The storyline flows well, transitioning to each setting smoothly. The narrator creates personality to the characters and vivid scene images through her unique voice timbre. This book satisfied the romantic in me, as well as the taste for intrigue. It was quite an enjoyable audible.

Excitement from the start
Sometimes with a quick read, the author has to sacrifice much of the storytelling to include all of the outline. The author has found a very even balance between the two. Not an easy feat. I felt that I got to know the main male character Hugo, well. His absence from his family plausible, his commitment to duty understandable and his character consistent.
The main female character Jade, was likable from the first words written about her. She was bubbly, kind and just wanted to be loved, (but not in a sappy dysfunctional way).
The thing I liked best was that even though it was a good guys verses the bad guys with trains, guns and gangs, the author threw in enough curves that rather than try and second guess the plot, I listened to the story as it was told. It was fun to allow the author to lead me on the unpredictable turns the story took.
It’s a clean action/romance read, with very little violence, suitable for pre-teens to adults.

Great book!
I listened to this one on audio. The narrator was good and brought the book to life. There was only one time I thought that she used a voice she shouldn't have. All in all, She did a great job.
I loved this book. The idea of someone getting a mail-order bride from across the sea is a plot is unusual. I think I have only read one other. I must say I liked this one better. I liked the suspense in this one. The characters were well thought out and developed wonderfully.

Short and sweet
Really cute story. It was short, but just enough story to be satisfying. The narrator was great. Great choice for a quick read.
