About this listen
Jim realizes he needs reboot his life, but has no idea how to do that. Ultimately, he decides he needs to get away, and literally decides to thru-hike the Appalachian Trail.
By the time he returns home, Jim is physically and emotionally stronger, as well as prepared to live a more purposed-driven life.
In the second book in this series (Back from the Trail), Jim returns to his apartment both enlightened and energized, ready to find a new job and turn his life around. One of the first things he does is make a phone call. While passing through Damascus, Virginia, Trail Town USA, Jim met Janice, a beautiful and bright 42-year-old single woman. The two spent a glorious day together. After returning to the trail, he regretted not staying there longer so he could have gotten to know Janice better. She is frequently in his thoughts during the balance of his trek.
Janice seems very happy to hear that Jim completed the trail and made it home safely. Jim quickly discovers, though, that she started dating a local farmer soon after they met. Despite the fact that Brad has the home-court advantage, Jim decides to pursue Janice regardless of the cost. Ultimately, the two are married in the small church in Damascus, Virginia where they first met.
As Jim continues to reflect on his many trail experiences, he begins to believe he was “called to serve.” While a technical career was clearly his first calling, he feels increasingly compelled to answer his newest call. With Janice’s full backing and support, Jim begins taking divinity classes at a nearby university.
This third book (The Journey Continues) picks up Jim’s story several years later, soon after he has become a licensed pastor…
