Publisher's summary

American translator Ruth Bennett peels back layers of haunting secrets in a revered kimono dynasty.

“I jostled her shoulder and noticed when I did that her skin was cold to the touch, her entire torso was covered in tattoos of kimono motifs.”

This ghastly scene was the last thing Ruth Bennett expected to encounter when she agreed to translate a novel by a long-forgotten Japanese writer. Returning to her childhood home in Kyoto had promised safety and solitude, but Ruth soon finds the storyline in the novel leaking into her everyday life. Fictional characters turn out to be frighteningly real. Using her intimate knowledge of both kimono and Kyoto, Ruth must confront a vicious killer along with her own painful family secrets.

The story

This story was very intriguing as well as intricate. It definitely ends in a way you would normally never guess on. I highly recommend it if you are into mystery novels.

Rebecca Copeland tells an incredible tale

In The Kimono Tattoo, the listener is introduced to Ruth, a translator in Kyoto. I haven't listened to anything from this author before, and I really enjoyed it. I did read the print version of the story, and enjoyed it, but I also really enjoyed this audiobook. The characters were incredible and very intriguing. This narration really brought this story to life. Ruth is an interesting character, and she does her job well, but things soon go awry very quickly. She finds herself in the middle of a mystery, when she is acted to translate a manuscript. She doesn't see the harm in that, but the manuscript is from a deceased author. Ruth and her family have secrets, as everyone does, but there is more to the manuscript than meets the eye, there are links to her past and her brother, who has been missing for too long now. I really enjoyed this story, and interacting with the characters, while also getting a lot of the Japanese culture, and how things are so different. While it is a thriller, there are some light-hearted scenes and a seemingly relationship with her friend Hiro. The story is unpredictable, and is one of the stories that you can get immersed in. This story is a grand suspenseful story. If you love a good mystery, with added plot twists, this book should be next on your list. What a magnificent story, kept this reader turning the hanging on every word of the story. I have fast become a big fan of Rebecca Copeland. The Kimono Tattoo on audiobook is a definite listening recommendation by Amy's Bookshelf Reviews. I look forward to listening to many more titles by this author. Amy's Bookshelf Reviews recommends that anyone who listens to this book, to also write a review.

No good....

I found the book superficial and without any suspense ..... more old cliché... the final was weak!
