About this listen
Military intelligence colleagues summon attorney Craig Malcault to testify against his client, a sensual, provocative socialite with a suspect divorce case. But he decides to destroy her file and risk all he's got to guard her secret. Craig was chasing informants a decade ago when his client built an international conglomerate and founded Ara Pacis, the code-named territory in Latin America, with the two men in her life as protection against threatening extermination. The bloodcurdling discoveries Craig now makes about her case are a human rights attorney's stellar dream come true.
That dream quickly becomes a nightmare when Craig learns what life is like, imperiled on government watchlists with unauthorized identities. Craig's client grapples with illusory confessions from the men she propelled to success. She needs a payback mechanism to even the scores of their embattled lives. It is always an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth on the ground where spies and mercenaries make their fortunes, and Craig knows it all so well, unlike management in Washington, D.C.
Management brutally uses the client's lover, George, secretly a double agent, as its tool, its sole goal to destroy Ara Pacis for its military intelligence work.

The book gave me a break from reality.
I love fantasy stories. They take me away. I need that escape sometimes. I started Maria Ian's "The Labyrinth." It's the third book in a series. It has magic and adventure. I wanted to get lost in its world. I hoped it would give me a place to go when life is hard.
This book was very exciting. It had action and suspense. It kept me on the edge of my seat. Today, I had a bad day at work. I felt stressed. I put on the book. I listened to the characters fight. I forgot about my problems. I was in their world. I felt like I was there. The book gave me a break from reality.

I found myself completely absorbed by the intricate plot and unexpected turns that left me on the edge of my seat. The stakes are higher, the characters are more complex, and the world-building is phenomenal. If you’re a fan of thrilling adventures, this series just keeps getting better!

Harrowing personal nightmare.
The audiobook masterfully explores the tension between human rights advocacy and the brutal realities of political and personal betrayals. Craig's discovery of the bloodcurdling truths surrounding his client presents both an attorney's dream case and a harrowing personal nightmare.

A Gripping Dive into Power, Secrets, and Betrayal
This audiobook pulled me in with its intricate web of political intrigue, intelligence maneuvers, and moral dilemmas. The layers of deception and shifting alliances kept me engaged, and the protagonist’s risky choices added a real sense of tension. I especially enjoyed how it explored the blurred lines between loyalty and survival, making the stakes feel intensely real. If you’re into high-stakes legal drama mixed with espionage and psychological depth, this one delivers.

Just asking to be made for screen
Maria Ian is back with more riveting, edge of your seat fiction, this time, carrying on the epic cave sun series with another installment. As I stated in my last overview of Ian’s work, the twisting and turning of high-impact, dramatic scenarios could easily be made into a series for streaming and reminds me of a series I was recently just engrossed in. I would love to see these made for screen. Highly blown away by this writing and found myself completely engrossed.
