Publisher's summary

Land has a price. It's always been that way. When J.S. Stensrud and his wife Dotty buy a piece of land on the Oregon coast known as the Spit, they come to know that price. As Stensrud tries to build a legacy on his island amid the background of the Great Depression, he is visited by a Native American woman who helps him learn the bloody price of land in the most painful way possible.

The cost is more than you can pay

Magnificently written tale. The man is convinced that money will solve his problems as he buys coastal land to make a vacation getaway in the early 1900’s. An old Indian woman shows up telling him money is not the price for the land. The land needs its payment and accidents begin to happen. Can his purchase be reneged? Or does the land already have its claws in him?
