About this listen

They were the Boleyns, once one of England's most powerful family. Anne Boleyn captured the hand of Henry VIII, and now we see the rise and fall of their family fortunes through the eyes of the eldest Boleyn daughter, Mary.

Mary Boleyn is overshadowed in history by her sister, Anne, but it was she who first caught the eye of Henry VIII, setting the stage for her family's dramatic rise to power - and ultimate fall from grace. Although Henry set her aside as his mistress, Mary still navigated the dangerous waters of the Tudor court while forging ahead to find a life - and a love - apart from the intrigue that surrounded her.

In New York Times best seller Karen Harper's skillfully written and dramatically set novel, you will hear the story of this once mostly forgotten Boleyn sister in a brilliant blend of history, romance, and drama.

great character development and amazing details throughout. never would have believed so much of England's institutions have their origin in one powerful and lustful king.

I love history and this book had a few new fictional takes on the old story of Anne Boelyn.

Worth a credit.

The only qualm I had with book was the way the narrator voiced Anne. She used this odd nasally voice that I really disliked

Absolutely amazing book

not a lot of detail on Anne. I like reading about Anne from different perspectives and this Anne was just 2 dimensional. also they skipped over major events such as Anne's miscarriages and such.. It was ok, but not riveting🤷🏿‍♀️

was ok

Interesting with a bit of a romantic spin on Mary Boleyn. Historical fiction, recommend by a friend.

I really loved the story as well as the narration!! The story was written tastefully without compromising the passion between characters. Highly recommended!!!

Well done!

I absolutely could not stand the voice characterization of Ann, both Catherines and King Henry. All others were wonderful. Ann and little Catherine Carey sounded liked the narrator had a cold. Very annoying! As for the story itself, I’d very much like to know why the author changed the order of birth of Mary’s children and why she didn’t carry on the story through Mary’s life- only Ann’s. Perhaps a new edition with author’s notes???

Liked but had some holes

Could writing the narrator was spot on and the story was intriguing. This book gave real life and personality to the people involved in one of the largest royal scandals ever.

This historical fiction fan loved it
