About this listen

Arthur Pendragon is king! With the great sword Caliburn in his hand and Merlin the enchanter at his side, Arthur comes out of hiding to claim the crown he was born to wear. Unchallenged on the battlefield, he melds the country together in a time of promise. But Merlin, Arthur's protector, sees the glories and horrors that await the new king. Sinister powers plot to destroy Camelot, and when the witch-queen Morgause—Arthur's own half-sister—ensnares him in an incestuous liaison, a fatal web of love, betrayal, and bloody vengeance is woven.

The novel is told from the point of view of Merlin with a tour de force performance by Nicol Williamson. Get the entire series.

This was like delving into my past - a book read 45 years ago in high school. This particular read is remastered from an earlier recording and is excellently narrated.

Nostalgic and fun

I recognized Merlin’s voice immediately. If you liked “Excalibur”, you’ll be pleased. The quality isn’t so bad that it detracted from my enjoyment. I am jazzed that I got to hear the first Merlin I remember tell the tale.

Merlin!

The Poor quality remaster of old analog recording ended my hope of sharing this series with the next generation of Arthur/ Merlin fans. Don’t buy without listening to sample

The first 2 books in series were so beautifully narrated. This was the worst I have ever heard. Volume so inconsistent. Thick accent. Ruined the book. Couldn’t understand much of it.

Awful narration
