About this listen
The twisty psychological thriller from the Sunday Times bestselling author of After Anna and Seven Days
Everyone lies…but some lies are deadly.
For Claire Daniels, life is good. She has everything she’s ever wanted – a career she loves, friends she can rely on and a husband who dotes on her. All she needs is to start a family of her own and things will be even better than good.
They’ll be perfect.
For Alfie, it couldn’t be more different. His life with Claire is built on a lie. A lot of lies. And she can never find out.
Because Alfie has plans for her. Plans which must never come to light. But lies have a way of taking on a life of their own, and when his do, the consequences threaten to destroy everything.

Story
Two little girls stand with their heads bowed in my living room. I’m told they’re my granddaughters. Daisy is nine, and Alice seven. Daisy is the spitting image of her mother. This is the first time I’ve met them since my daughter and I fell out after she married that waste of space, Vince. They’ve come to live with me because their mother — my daughter — was murdered. In her own home while they slept close by. I think Vince killed her. But the police can’t prove it. I’ve always known he was no good. He treated my daughter like dirt. I said he’d cheat on her — but she wouldn’t listen.

Her family was issued an insane ransom demand: $25 million in cash and jewels, payable by the end of the school day, otherwise they’ll never see her again. Splendid! (
Loved this story! I had thought I'd figured it out fairly early, and I had, but that made it such a PERFECT experience! If you're a woman who has ever been in an abusive relationship .... (spoiler alert). This is the kind of book that makes you giggle evil while you clench your bum-checks and scream... "YES, GIRL! DO IT FOR ALL OF US WHO COULDN'T OR WOULDN'T (because we don't live in novels where we can ignore our own morals and bullshit laws that never protect us but would happily convict us)!"
Freaking satisfying!

A couple of very good twists
I’m glad I didn’t listen to the negative reviews and went ahead and listened. Enjoyed it very much. Was it perfect? No, few books are. Was there anything in the story I would have liked to be different? The ending I would have done a little differently, but it worked as it is.
I really enjoyed the narration done by Laura Kirman. In fact I will look for more books narrated by her. She had j

Predictable Story Overall
If this was the first book of this kind, I probably would have gone with the twists & turns but sadly this one was spelled out easily for me. The narrator did an excellent job. Will be looking for her again.
