About this listen

America's most scenic train, The Zephyr, is deep inside the Moffat Tunnel when the entire Yellowstone Caldera explodes, spreading death and destruction across the west. While millions die, the passengers and crew aboard the Zephyr are protected in the 6.2 mile long tunnel. As ash settles, the people on the train have to use all of their combined wisdom, skills, and resources to punch their way out of the mountains, get clear of the dead zone, and survive together on the Last Zephyr. I really enjoyed listening to this book, even though the computer voice was the worst part. The story was compelling, the characters fairly well developed and likable, and there was a lot of suspense. Having ridden the California Zephyr I really appreciated the storyline. Some of the technical descriptions of train hardware seemed more suited for diehard train enthusiasts, but the human stories more than made up for that. I highly recommend this book. But next time, please invest in a human narrator.

An unexpectedly engaging story

It was a lot of fun to listen to this story just after riding along the same route on the California Zephyr. So many characters and sites were what we experienced on our journey.
The AI narration was really not good. Odd pauses, mispronounced words and awkward phrasing. Maybe AI narrators will get better but I will stay away from them for now. The story was not served well by producing it this way.
Maybe get the the author to narrate. I have a feeling he would be a great performer.

Fun story after riding the California Zephyr

What a fun story. Having recently ridden the Zephyr, with Conductor Brad, through the Moffit tunnel, the images came to life as the listened. The storyline and non-stop action would make a great movie.

This should be a movie
