About this listen

London, 1851.

Former thief Jovan Davenport is the black sheep in a family of powerful sorcerers. But when his dying father - head of the League of Illusion - reaches out for help, Jovan has no choice but to accept. He must find his missing brother Sebastian and stop the power-hungry Hawthorne family from taking control of the council. If only they'd appointed someone other than Skylar Vanguard to help him in his quest.

Skylar, a druid and accomplished tracker, has spent three years trying to forget her past, especially Jovan Davenport. Once in love, she left Jovan when she discovered his betrayal. She wants nothing to do with him or his family, but must obey the council's will by accompanying Jovan and reporting back on his progress.

Forced to work alongside each other, neither of them expects their passion to return so quickly. But as the conspiracy deepens in a steam-powered world of dirigibles and mechanical golems, will their secrets stand in the way of their mission - and their love?

Javon and Reese are brothers with fierce rivalry based on their history. When sent on a search for their brother Sebastian who had been missing for 7 years, they are joined by Skylar a druid woman and Javon's former lover.

I love how Skylar maintains her cool and is able to show the men that she can handle herself. Javon and Skylar's intense attraction keeps you wondering why they parted ways. My favorite character was Reese, so reserved and yet so brilliant with illusion. I hope book 2 brings him love and his own affair.

Mandy Williams performance was amazing. She portrayed Javon's emotional rawness to the point you could feel his pain and made Reese so loveable. Can't wait for the next book.

Wow... I really like this. I usually like a bit more sexual tossing around in my stories...but I must say, for a romantic novel... the author did a great job keeping the story going without all the tossing. The clever use of magic was awesome and how this was set in like 1812 was totally unexpected too.

Not worth a buy, but definitely worth a credit.

Narration was pretty good as well.

Suprise Suprise!
