About this listen

Dallas PI Dylan Fisher thought he was done with his ex-wife—but now he’s solving her murder

Dallas private investigator Dylan Fisher hasn’t seen his ex-wife, Rose, in three years—which is why he’s surprised when she asks him to meet her at a hotel. Rose Doucette is a homicide detective, and she wants Dylan’s help with a murder investigation that she’s been asked to step back from but can’t seem to let go. They review the details of the case and part ways—but as Rose is leaving the parking lot, Dylan sees a suspicious car begin to follow her. Feeling uneasy, he tails the car and tries to warn Rose, but he’s too late—the driver of the car shoots her, killing her instantly, before speeding away.

The police are determined to pin the murder on Dylan, so he’s left with no choice but to find the killer himself. Teaming up with Rose’s widower, a defense attorney named Tito, the pair dive into Rose’s past to figure out who could’ve wanted to kill the woman they both loved—and what they were trying to hide.

Engrossing with a twist! I loved it!

Rose Doucette had secrets, things from her past she told no one, least of all her ex-husband Dylan, or Tito the man she left him for. When Rose, a homicide detective is killed, one man is the accused and the other must work with him, if what really happened to Rose is to be uncovered … because the nefarious want the truth behind “The Life and Death of Rose Doucette” to stay buried … at all costs! This one had all I needed for complete enjoyment! A gripping, ENTHRALLING, believable plot featuring a HUGE twist I didn’t see coming, interesting well developed characters, dialogue that was at all times believable AND a smooth flow that never lagged, with OUTSTANDING narration! This “who done it” had me completely invested and in the moment from beginning to end, easily earning FIVE fantastic stars across all categories! I loved it!

Tale of Deceit and Murder

Dallas PI Dylan Fisher is a suspect in the murder of his ex-wife and police officer, Rose Doucette. Working against time and as the only suspect in the case, he investigates her murder. Time is against him.

The author, Harry Hunsicker, weaves a masterful tale of deceit and murder, with well-executed, unexpected plot twists. The character development is detailed and compelling, and the narrative flows smoothly. The revelation of hidden truths is riveting, and filled with suspense.

The narrator, Rick Bender, provides an engaging performance that brings depth to the narrative and each character. His subtle intonations and well-timed pauses amplify the suspense, making for a truly enjoyable experience. Rick’s clear speech draws the listener into every moment.

This was an engaging mystery that kept the listener captivated.

First Time Listener but not the Last

The book starts a little cliche with a man falsely accused but quickly twists and turns to a captivating mystery and storyline. Rick Bender is new to narrating audio books and after a slow start I was so caught up in the story I forgot who was reading it. Needs to work a bit on women's voices but the men were spot on. I will definately be alert to listening to his next book and will look for more Harry Hunsicker novels.

So many twists and turns—I’m still feeling twisty!

This story lives up to its promise of a mystery that keeps you guessing. The narrator’s take on the female voice wasn’t my favorite, but overall, the narration was solid, and the story itself was a lot of fun!

The Life and death of Rose

The story was good.It started off slow with hesitant narration.Narration got better, but Rick Bender should stick with male voices. I was given this book free for an honest review.
